is it possible to have a misfire only at idle?
I have no clue what the hecks going on now! When running and idleing I can feel it through the seat sitting in the car...might idle fine for 3 secs and then you feel what apears to be a pretty good jolt. The tach don't move around that much...i changed the plugs...no difference...reset adaptions with bt tool...still the same! I evens switched gas. I have no check engine lights or codes. I don't have a problem through out the entire rev range, just idle! Anyone shed any light on this? Thanks!

Other than experiencing something similar for the past several years and sporting various flavors of Procede during that time, I have nothing else to add other than I recently had my plugs changed by the dealer and the problem still persists. As you, I have no codes to show for it and it has never affected how the vehicle drives.

This happens on high HP cars with a low gapped plugs such as a 800HP supra running a .20 gap, it will misfire at idle but the low gap is needed for it not to break up during 30psi.
It's probably not the issue with your 335i, though. It could be a bad coilpack or the wiring to one, but I think the car would pick up the code. FWIW, my car makes a slight jolt every once in a while at idle. I thought it may be the clutch or something. Anyone else experience this on a 6spd? |

how can I get bmw to replace the injectors and coil packs with no check engine lights or codes? Could I just unplug something and reconnect it so they look into it? Sounds dumb and like a scam but seriously it just sucks I feel like it's gonna break! Thanks guys!

My car is not under warranty and I've never had a BMW before, but I would get the service manager to sit in you car and explain to you what the jolt your feeling is.
If they say it's normal go sit in another car to see if it does the same thing. I wouldn't unplug anything. Quote:

no way to persuade the dealer it is a defective injector because there is no code Dealer states this is normal idle for a lean burn engine |

I just had my injectors replaced, one was leaking and causing the same problem at idle and 2500rpm. They also changed the plugs since they were soaked with fuel on a cold start. Car runs like new.
I can post up my invoice when I get home so you can see the reason, maybe you can use it and bring it to your dealer. Michael |
