Yup, I get the wind noise here and there...it sounds like the noise (high pitch) is coming directly above the driver seat. I have a sunroof as well and I have tried to open and close it thinking that there was a leak but the sound really seems to come randomly. Other people were complaining about this in another thread. If you find out anything more about it, be sure to let us know!

Me too. I test drove an E90 330i some weeks ago over a whole weekend. Above 180 km/h it became pretty noisy inside (much more than my E46 330Ci). I also guess the wind noise was coming from the sun roof. I am glad I will be waiting for the E92. They´ll have time to fix most of the current bugs until then...

Very loud.....almost as loud as my SUV......
Can I purchase an air-tight cabin with low wind noise as an option?......hahaha!

Did anyone take it to the dealer?
If so what did they say? |

I would test the hypothesis that the noise is coming from turbulance over the edges of the windshield, and not the sunroof trim. Sounds to me like Bella tested the sunroof fit hypothesis as best as one could. The edge pieces on the front sides of the A pillars strike me as peculiar. Any variation at different speeds, wind angles, etc.? One explanation that was previously vetted was that the car is otherwise so quiet that stuff that previously would have been drowned out are now annoying -- I can buy that explanation for the seat belt tick, but not loud aero booming. Any aerodynamics folks on the list?

In a previous thread I mentioned wind noise, with a few other problems. Mine starts around 90mph, and gets worse the faster I go. My dealer now says BMW are aware of the problem and there a few things?? they are going to try. I am booked in on 21st September so I'll let you know.

I have irritating wind noise above 100 kmph. No sunroof and believe my ride was SA built. Got the car in Jul and sent it back 5 times. Agent re-applied the seal at the edge of the windscreen, somewhat improved. Not 100% pleased but happier than before. Now driving with hi-fi at full blast when ever possible to drown out the wind noise.

Just a followup, dropped my car at dealer yesterday and got a call today. The wind noise from my sunroof is "normal". To reduce it, I am advised to close the sun shade. Well, at least I know for sure now and had it checked out. Time to crank up the stereo and shut the sun shade!

I have the same issue with my E91; it is quieter in vent mode than completely closed. Unacceptable.
It even leaked the other day in the car wash. Normally I have the shade closed when the sunroof is closed so I never have noticed the leak before. Seems to me the rubber seal is not tight enough around the parameter on the sunroof. I wonder if a rubber type strip around the edge attached to the metal would help? Maybe only a 2mm thick material. Increase interference and increase friction at the same time, should make a better seal. .
