Do you pay all or partial on a new order?

If I want to pay the F10 series at a full price, do I pay a down payment first and wait for the car to arrive and once it arrive in about 2 months I would need to test drive it one more time before signing any paper and pay the rest of the amount....or...

do I have to pay the full amount and wait for the car to arrive?

I am in California by the way.

I paid $500 refundable at order. The rest after the car got to the dealer, I checked the car out, and I drove it once. Took about 6 weeks after it was built.

Agreed, I put down 1k but anything more then that is really overkill for commitment.

Although since your not getting financing then they may require something extra. My down payment was accompanied with an approval letter from my financial institution. Have you seen the interest rates at some credit unions lately, almost free money!

Because your in the States as long as its not some weird configuration it really shouldn't matter as they will sell it relatively quickly if you back out.

For the 3 BMW's I've bought I had to put down a deposit, but I've always used a Amex card for the deposit, and they never actually charged the card for the deposit. If you give them a check, do they actually cash the check?

They cashed my check immediately. So I had $500 less to pay when I put money down later after the car got there.

I had hoped that they would have charged my amex so I would have paid that a few months ago, and not have to write a larger check when I picked up my car. I guess for a credit card they just get an authorization and don't actually charge it (and avoid the credit card proecessing fee the banks charge them).

I initially gave my dealer a check for $1000 which they did not cash.

I'm doing ED, so the car must be paid for a minimum of 7 days prior to delivery in Munich.

I gave my dealer a credit card and they actually charged the card at the time I placed the order.

I am now realizing that I can get a better deal than the one I signed for. I would assume a good dealer would match or come close to the new price I have.

Anyone ever successfully renegotiated during the order process? I am not obligated to accept the car.

I don't want to do that but want to come to a fair resolution.

Thoughts?

If I were you, I would offer to pay the full amount
upfront in exchange for the dealer giving me more discount on the price of the car.
