CrossFit

Just saw the P90X thread and thought its a good idea. Personally I prefer CrossFit and I saw at least 2 members on the first page who also mentioned it. So I thought this could be an anything and everything CrossFit thread.

Personally I got into it at school. Took a break from it for about a month once summer started. Although I continued to work out at a gym and run, I knew I wanted to et back into it so I started looking around. Found a great alternative to paying for an affiliate though, Joint Base Andrews offers it through (I'm sure) MWR for free so I just started it back up on Monday. Only made it to 2 sessions this week, but hoping to start regularly getting to at least three or all four a week. That first day back was awesomely rough...

Crossfit is easily the better of the two. P90X users are typically overweight housewives, mothers, husbands, etc and it's great for getting cut up but thats it. There's a reason the military incorporates it in their PT sessions nowadays. Hey, something is better than nothing though.

Definitely. I was actually on my way to a session today when I saw this.

10 sets for time of:
10 deadlifts 135 lbs
10 pushups

Considering I've done deadlifts maybe a dozen times in my life, it was a toughy. Finished in 13:25 though. Not too bad.

My cousin opened a CrossFit Gym in San Luis Obispo CA. Great work out. I've done P90X, and this is more involved.

I shot the ad for the gym with my SLR. Thought you guys might like this.

I must further clarify & agree that CrossFit and p90x are completely different for a number of reasons.

Are any of you familiar with "Fight Gone Bad"?

Oh god, Fight Gone Bad is rough. And yeah there are a few hot chicks that kick my ass at the box I go to. Still learning to just accept it haha. I think the filthy fifty was the worst for me. For time, 10 exercises, 50 reps each. Don't remember all of them but included kettle bell swings, good mornings, pullups, toes to bar, and others.

I'm a Level 1 Coach and do some PT Training at a local affiliate. The 2010 Games were a blast to watch live in LA, and for a cool video highlight you can check out this:

I've been a member of Crossfit for about 7 months now. The gym I go to is a great community, and the workouts are pretty intense.

Well to clarify your original post, I think you mean sub par. Sup par makes no sense.

As for the rest of it, what exactly do you do that has you in such great shape?

Work capacity looks pretty well rounded to me:

Max Clean & Jerk - 305
Max Snatch - 225
Max Deadlift - 475
Max Back Squat - 390
Max Pullups - 50
400m run time - 01:00
5K run time - 21:20

And he's 5'10" - 190lbs.
