Coupe vs Sedan - internals
Hi,
I was wondering what the differences were between the coupe and sedan in terms of components, engine bay layout, panels, cost of repairs etc. I am about to purchase a second hand 325i (in Australia we have as petrol engines the 335i twin turbo and then next down is the 325i with 2.5l NA engine, then 323i with detuned 2.5l NA and then 320i ...). I am wondering about whether to get a coupe or sedan. I want a manual, preferably with idrive and sports pack. I'd prefer the sedan, but far fewer come in manual, fewer with sports pack and even fewer with idrive and it seems that after the coupe was introduced, there are very, very few 325i sedan manuals - I imagine all those that would get the sporty manual just decided to go for the coupe. Hoping for a 2007 version, but I can only see manual sedans up to 2006, coupes after that. So, am I at a disadvantage in getting a coupe? eg, Is the engine bay layout different, meaning the DIY guides on the net can't be followed as easily? Are the panels rarer and therefore repairs more expensive. Are all panels different? Are the internal of different quality? Are components harder to get? Is there more/less rear legroom? Are wheels larger with less space for turning? |
