New Car Smell
I just pickup up my jet black this saturday. Ah...I have missed that new car smell for so long. Does anyone know how to keep the wonderful smell for some time? Thanks.

No farting, eating, sex, coffee, never open the windows, always run the AC, keep it in a cool dark garage and buy new carpets every now and then 'cause they smell newish and use leather cleaner from BMW and keep the interior winows clean with Windex.

New car smell
New car smell comes from evaporating glue and solvents inside your plastic or leather, so don't park it under the sun(hot) or open all the windows, then the solvents/glue won't evaporate to quickly, I had a Toyota Corolla, everyday its parked under cover in darkness/cool place, still smell good well over 18 months, at the office or at home.

Hey Natureboy I like and use mountain breeze too! =) But I found the freshener to rattle at times so I stuck a folded piece of paper it one of the openings and it fixed the problem (sorry, off topic.) I have been parking in the sun for a few months and my new car smell is almost gone! T.T

I also found that leather smell linger alot longer, and if you treat it say once every 12/6 months with leather conditioner, then the new car smell / lether conditioner smell will blend in and perhaps replace the new car smell, and you won't know the real difference, thus your car still have 'the new car smell' for a longer period. Did this on my Saab it was 3 and half years old.
Oh btw on subject of 'new car smell' car perfume, I personally found it it yuck, cuase avis/budget used it all the time to deodorise their car (with similar smell and you know its not the real thing), and guess what, they keep putting it on after every hire, and it smell putrid, gosh gotta open those windows to get some air.

ok, I posted to this thread but it got deleted when the server crashed.
I recently had the car detailed and they used a "New Car smell" freshener that ruined my original BMW New car smell. If I air out the car, will it come back or what can I do to bring it back?? |
