IPod Connection

First time to try and hook up my i-pod and I've got totally confused.

I have:-

USB cable ex dealer
Non Hard Drive I-Drive
Can't see any USB port in Glove box
Do have AUX USB in centre Arm rest

I've plugged the Black USB cable in to the AUX USB, then into the I-Pod USB connector thing, turned on Stereo, but nothing appears on the I-Drive screen, all it says is "External Audio Source".

See pics below of all the relevant info, am I doing something wrong? (sorry about the size of the pics, not sure how to shrink them)

Before I got the full IPOd kit, all I used to do is take the 3.5mm jack on the top of the IPOd and plug in the 3.5mm jack in the arm rest, you have not control over the IPOD using this method though.

Ok, got the Y lead as detailed and it works (it appeared that I was having the same problem, but it seems to take awhile to load the songs)

One question, is there any issue in having the I-Pod plugged in 24/7 on battery drain?

Ipod

I have my Ipod connected for most of the time and have not had a problem with battery drain. Should be fine.

What is the build date of your car?

I have my iPod plugged in 24/7 and it's no problem. Power isn't delivered (I believe) when the ignition is off.
