335 transmission
do you guys think it's the first generation SMG?
it feels like the one they had on z4. i just test drove one tonight, it shifts so fast, i'd say it's much much better than my 330 steptronic. |

its suuuper smooth and yes it does shift very fast. No jarring shifts like with the M3 though....which is kinda nice. If they had one on the lot that day I definitely would have gotten the auto w/ paddles for sure. But the manual is very nice.

The automatic tranny in the 335i is nothing like an SMG transmission, in a technical sense. Yes it can be told to shift with buttons, but the actual transmission is completely different and it uses a torque converter instead of a clutch like the SMG does. Not a bad thing though, just different.

The auto works great with the turbos...many step 335i owners seem to be getting ~4.85s 0-60...powertrain loss? Who cares! Makes me really jealous.
