Skiers and Boarders
OK, fess up! Who here skis or boards and is anticipating the opening of the season? I recall a few folks said they board a while back.
I've got my rack on order and I'll probably go out this year and buy a board. Last year I made too many excuses for not getting out ... this year I plan on making up for lost time. We should organize a trip to Whitetail or someplace local - ski and board, the apres festivities . |

My girlfriend works for Beer Creek in Macungie, PA and gets smoking hot deals through work. $10 lift tickets along with $10 rentals. She can have up to 8 guests I believe. I'll look into it some more, but we may have to wait until after the Holiday season. Until then, I wouldn't mind doing a day trip or two to Roundtop/Whitetail/Liberty. I just bought about $1K worth of equipment last season but was not able to get out into the mountains. I am itching to try it out now though.

I'm thinking about a late season trip out west. Have heard Whistler is one of the best trips out there. |

So for all you boarders out there ... any recommendations on where to buy my gear? Looking for someplace local in NoVA hopefully ... or if there are any reputable online shops that have better deals. Thanks.

I bought all my stuff when I still technically lived in NY. I have a Burton Rush (signature series) 165 with Burton SI bindings, and of course... Burton SI boots... I love my board, and dont know if Ill ever get another brand... But as is the case with Burton, it doesnt usually come cheap... |

I ski once or twice a year, missed last year altogether but I don't have my own equipment. I'm up for a ski day trip. I was at deep creek lake when they had that new years blizzard with 3 feet a few years ago; the skiing was awsome.

I got my setup from Asylum Wake Skate and Snow last season, mid-season. I got an Uninc board, Burton Hail Boots, and Burton Custom Bindings with the new toe-caps, all for about $500, give or take $50. I thought it was a great deal because everything I got was 50% off of regular retail price.
Give them a try, the sale is great. And they have a few locations around the DC/MD/VA area.

Alrighty ... good to go I said to hell with it and ended up buying a snowboard, boots and bindings over the weekend. Early Christmas present por moi. Burton elite board, Custom bindings and some Burton boots. They're already making snow @ Whitetail ... may have to make the trip up before the end of the year to test it out. |
