A Few Questions

Hey all,

Just a few questions I thought I'd condense in one thread as oppose to making multiple ones.

1. I just removed all the swirls from my vehicle at the 2nd last week of March and it is starting to swirl again. I was wondering where I could find this infamous glaze product that is used to basically fill in the swirls. I only ask because I want to fill them in until I do my polish again for winter. Or should I just do a one step on the entire vehicle again (I don't want to kill my clear)?

2. In terms of drying, I think I want to go with a leaf blower dedicated to drying my car. Any recommendations or specific things I should look out for when selecting one? I found 2 on Canadian Tire's site for pretty cheap.

Any alternatives are appreciated. And if anyone disagrees with using a blower please let me know why.

3. Power washers. Looking for one that's inexpensive that I could attach a foam cannon to. Please point me in the right direction to a washer and foam attachment.

T'is all. Thanks everyone!

I find CG Ventura-Bond and EZ Creme Glaze both contain some fillers and will hide minor swirls for a little while. Use one or the other, you don't need both. Ventura-Bond seemed to have more fillers in my experience.

I use Menzerna Finishing Touch Glaze. Very easy to put on and remove.

I picked up a blower from Chemical Guys (http://www.chemicalguys.com/ELECTRIC..._p/acc_303.htm). It is inexpensive, small and light and does the job of blowing most of the water off my car. After I do that, I follow up with waffle weave towels using a blotting method.

I don't want to sound rude so please don't take it that way, but if you properly polished a car in March and properly washed and dried it, it should be swirled again.

I am not a fan of a glaze except when I enter into a car show. It works for a very short time and has no protection properties at all.

yea i know, thats what i was thinking right...i don't know if its my wash/dry technique because thats where i think my issue is, which is why i was asking about blowers and whatnot. im just trying to refine my technique and i was looking for some solutions. Also the entire drivers side of my car has been painted/blended so the clear is weak as shit to begin with and can get scuffed quite easily.

http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131093 -> the write up for my car detail. the detailer allowed me to work with him to teach me the proper technique.

Black is hard to keep swirl free, very hard! Use the two bucket method if you have to wash by hand, use a foam gun to pre-treat everything. Dry with a leaf blower and blot dry, don't wipe

thanks for the input zax. is there anything in particular i should look for in a leaf blower or will any suffice? (i will only be using it for drying, no household activities). also are the foam guns that just attach to a garden hose sufficient or should i get the power washer attachments?

see my post above about a blower. it is cheaper than what you buy in the store and the blower end is rubber in case you accidentally hit the car. Foam gun attaches to a gargen hose. I use that. I prefer not to use a power washer on the car as it can forcefully push dirt around on the surface and cause scratches.

What are you currently using to dry the car, and clean it with?

I use waffle weave towels from DI, and I corrected my car about a month ago and its still swirl free.

2BM

I even have used ONR and still have yet to induce swirls.

sheepskin mitt, megs gold class, waffle weave. you know i think im gonna chalk it up to carelessness...but the resprayed areas on my car the clear is weak as shit so its probably a bit of both, on the non resprayed areas the car still looks great.

i appreciate the input everyone!
