I've spent a decent amount of time in the Audi and have also spent a decent amount of time in the E90 chassis despite that I've only had my 335 for a few days now. I've simplified the arguement: do you want to be involved as the driver, or isolated?

Before pulling the trigger on my "used" 335i, I drove a 2010 S4 6-speed last weekend. I was sure I'd love it and convince myself to spend the extra $20k for what I have always thought was my dream car...
Well, it was a very nice vehicle. But I couldn't stop thinking about the 335i. The S4 is not the monster that I thought it was. It was very tame and sedate, whereas I feel like the 335i is a rocket. Also, the handling of the BMW is better, IMHO. In the end, I simply liked the 335i better. Keep in mind, I'm talking about an S4, not an A4. |

I wouldn't even consider an A4. If I had to purchase a a 328 or an A4, I'd pick 328 without a doubt.
If both are at the same price point after options, between a 335 or S4, I would pick the S4. Pretty much, I wouldn't pick an Audi unless it was an S variant.

bmw but this is kind of a biased site...the audis are beautiful cars but from what I hear they are no where near as involved from the drivers experience

Seriously, go to Audizine, and they will blast the BMW like no other. It's just the way a lot of car people are. My car is awesome... all other cars suck!!!

Audi and VW are one and the same company. Audi A4=VW Passat, both of which can be had with all-wheel drive. That said, a 335i is light-years ahead of an A4 and with a mild tune, an S4 as well. But here's the dealbreaker on Audi: their customer service sucks! Not too many years ago I had a VW New Beetle with the turbo engine and had some issues with it (throttle servo, among others). In the course of my conversation with a CS rep (same outfit for VW/Audi), I was informed that they'd deny power window lift failures (of which they had many) if there was any window tint film installed (by dealer or customer). They claimed that the film could get into the mechanism and cause the failure. And they refused my warranty claim as well. I will never, ever, under any circumstances be foolish enough to buy an Audi, no matter how much any individual or car magazine raves about them. They are not even in the same league with BMW and certainly don't treat their customers very well. That's something to think about besides pure performance and appearance - you have to live with the car and the company that backs it. I've never had a bad experience with the 3 BMWs I've owned.

I am always bias toward I6 vs V6 or I4+T. (OK S4 V6 SC is excluded, I heard from some european tune site that thing is a monster). |

One other thing - the quattro system, as good as it is, adds weight to the car. A 2.0T quattro A4 is hauling a lot of weight for 200hp. A 328xi would be a better choice if you have to have awd. Without a quattro, like someone else said, you might as well be looking at a Honda.

I love the look of the new A4 but just the interior always reminds me about a VW car.. I do think audis are great cars (RS4!!!!) but really it shares too many parts with VWs and I think thats just not ok to me..

Between A4 and an E90, definitely the BMW.

If you are looking at the A4 with the 2.0T just get a VW and save your money. Same engine and build quality at least at the A4 level is pretty much the same VW to Audi. The 2.0T is a nice little engine though very easy and cheap to tune!
