Protecting bumpers + protecting interior (traveling with a dog)

Hi everyone,
New poster here. Picking up a '10 328xi coupe in about a week and I want to do my best to keep it in pristine condition.

2 questions - I'm looking into bumper protection (I live in an urban area). Parking Armor seems quite good: http://www.amazon.com/PARKING-ARMOR-...0480896&sr=1-7

Anyone have experience with that, or recommend another product?

Second, I sometimes travel with a dog. He'll obviously be going in the back seat. Any recommendations in terms of protecting the interior? I was going to go with a rubber bottom mat. Any products you all like?

Thanks!

Congrats on the new car! I also recently purchased a new E90 about 2 months ago.

My wife and I recently moved... but in our previous city I saw lots of vehicles with the various bumper guards, e.g. bumper bully, etc. I'm sure they are all good.

We also have a dog that I need to transport regularly. I talked to my client advisor and asked about the BMW brand rear seat cover for pets. He talked me out of it! He also had a dog and recommended I just buy a runner carpet that has the grippy bottom. I ended up buying one at Target for about $38 and it works perfectly!

For example: http://www.target.com/Home-Squares-R...dp/B001303NKU/

I don't recommend the pattern but just to give you an idea I went with a dark grey that complements my black dakota leather nicely.

I still get hair in the backseat but I'm fine with just vacuuming it up. I just don't want my dog digging its nails into the leather. And the runner works perfectly for that.

Hope this helps.

Exactly! I don't care about the hair, but want to protect the leather and the center console in the back from the nails. Also, gotta figure a way to not have him scuff the paint when he scurries into the car from the outside.

Thanks for the help.

I always wondered who might buy this accessory.

+1, here's an actual picture:

Looks like it works well, not cheap though.

I don't see why you wouldn't get the real one - what did the CA say about it? Just the cost, or that it actually doesn't work well? I like that it protects the doors and the back of the seats.

The real one looks great, although it's expensive it looks like it does an awesome job protecting the rear. I'm sure Tischer can hook you up on the price as well. As far as the rear bumper, why not clear guard it? Those bumper protectors will scratch your car unless it's spotless anyway, a clear bra on the front and rear bumpers will do a great job keeping scrapes away while being virtually unnoticeable.

Yeah, that one does look great but the price is a bit

You think the bumper protectors will scratch the car anyway? You mean if I take it out and there's dirt on it or the bumper already right? As in, the protector will rub against dirt and cause scratches.

No clear bra dealers near me and I wouldn't know where to begin in terms of installing something like that myself.

Menotti - Detailers Domain in Norwood, NJ does a Clear-bra product. I don't know the specifics but I think they are still a forum sponsor too.

I just toss a sheet over my back seat and tuck it in the sides and behind the headrests when my dogs ride with me.

Takes me about 15 seconds to set it up and doesn't cost much at all.

The bumper guards generally will scratch your bumper. You can always try a film over your bumper.

Gonna see what the Parking Armor product looks like. They seem to have the "softest" product, for what it's worth.

Gotcha, I've done that too. Thinking I want to do something thicker to protect against the nails, though.

I liked their site a lot...I'm picking up the car on Long Island, though, so I'd have to drive it to Norwood on the LIE and through Manhattan. Too late for a new car prep?
