OK Now I'm POed
I wrote in a earlier thread that BMW Roadside Assistance lost my car for two days and they sent me a letter of apology and $30 in Shell gift cards.
I went into my glove box today to get my GPS and it was gone. I'm the only driver of the car and I know it was in there before. I called up BMWRA and told them what happened. Let's see how they respond this time. |

Just like leaving change in your car when you drop it off at the dealer. It's almost a guarantee that it will not be there when you get the car back.
Am I wrong?

It's really unfortunate because I can see it now--"we are not responsible, and you should have anticipated that we employ thieves who will steal for as little as $169 (garmin nuvi 780). Have a nice day and hope you have enjoyed the Shell gift card."

Yep, I'd say you're wrong. I've often left change in my car and it has always been there when I've picked the car up from the dealer. Most people are actually pretty honest and just want to do their job.

In my case, I concluded that technicians, the ones I have dealt with, are not pretty honest. What was that based on? My personal experience. Yet, you concluded that my opinion is wrong. And yours is correct. We've both made some big generalizations. We both need to be smacked around a little bit.

I leave everything in my car, gucci sunglasses, Valentine 1, I Pod. Its always there when I return. I've talked to my SA several times, great guy, trust him completely. Of course this will be different for every dealer.

I once left a US Passport in the console of a rental car, and I noticed it on the shuttle back to the airport. So I just went back to the rental car counter and they said they'd check. After waiting 10 min., they said they don't have it. I was livid and said I want to look myself. So they let me into the area where they clean the cars, and I went to the car I rented, and sure enough, it was not there. About 4 years later, it was sent back to me in the mail, from the home office of the rental car agency. true story....

OK. A rep from BMWRA called me back and told me they are not responsible. They said I should file a police report and to go back to my insurance policy.
I told them that that answer is absolutely not acceptable. They are the ones that lost my car for 3 days (2 business). They are the ones that should have known where my car was and the reputation of towing service that they used. I told them I lost my car 6 days for a flat tire and got charged a ridiculous amount of money to just get it changed, went through 2 HPFPs, new fuel injectors, broken L7 stereo, and my current HPFP is on the fritz again. This is all within 13 months and that they have the nerve to tell me it's my responsibility to take care of the lost GPS even though they held onto my car? She said she would escalate the complaint and that a rep from BMW will call me. |

Ok that is complete bs i remember your other thread they lost your car for 3 days so retarded. You should demand a full M Tech kit painted and installed or tell them that you will let every one you know about what horrible customer service they have if that doesnt work protest in front of there dealership.

You have been lucky. If you keep this up you are just asking to loose of of those items eventually. It's not just about the SA. In fact, the SA actually hadly even touch your car. It's the people who handle your car who you should worry about. It's common sense people, do not leave anything valuable in your car when you are having it towed or serviced. You may or may not get it back. Why gamble with your valuable items?

My wife had some nice sunglasses stolen from her baggage at EWR. They also believe it or not, took pringles potato chips. She filed a claim and it was denied. It would be a waste of time to fight the system, until then, we didn't know that the TSA routinely stole stuff from baggage (we thought that cameras would prevent that, not true). We once checked a $4000 Snap-On engine diagnostic thingy and they didn't take it, probably had no idea what it was. |

I agree with this completely. Though I won't leave a wad of cash on the passenger seat, I do check to be sure the couple of moderately-expensive things that might be in the car are still there before leaving the dealer lot. Never had a problem, even with spare change. I really don't keep much in my car though.
