It's one of MANY BMW trademarks. It'll never change...

The keyword was PREFIX. I own a 335i not an i335

I am not so sure about the new BMW designations, but the movie of a Williams F1 "burnout that is not a burnout," which can be accessed from the referenced jalopnik.com site is quite good.
