Poll: KW V2's damaged during shipping, what to do

So I purchased a set of brand new KW V2's recently and they arrived from Germany with some minor damage. I doubt the damage will affect how they perform but I expect brand new products to arrive in pristine condition, especially ones that cost as much as a set of coilovers. So my question is, should I just bite the bullet and install them as is or should I go through a potentially lengthy process to get the damaged parts swapped out?

I also have an appointment with West End Alignment scheduled on the 30th and if I decide to get the parts swapped out, itll mean I have to cancel my appointment and wait another 2+ weeks for Darren's schedule to open up again.

Opinions please! Thanks.

lol, that's really nothing to worry about. at least not worth the lengthy process of getting them exchanged. Just installing them could scuff them up more than what those pics show.

Why wait weeks for something that you wont see everyday and actually improves the car?

Don't bother getting replacements, as it takes forever and you will only see those parts when you have the wheels off (they will likely be covered in road grime anyway). It might be worth talking to whoever you bought them from and at least letting them know that the parts didn't arrive as you expected. Could end up in a freebie, or at the very least an apology.

I guess its just the principle of it all. If I pay 1500+ dollars for something, I expect it to be perfect, not dinged up because someone made a mistake.

Definitely not worth trying to get them swapped. In 2 weeks after driving on them you won't even remember the scuffs at all. Installed, those scuffs will be invisible and will not impact performance whatsoever.

You should see how my KWv1s look right now...

Maybe push for a partial refund? Unless you don't mind shipping them back and waiting for a new set.

I can sympathize and understand the principle, but quite likely the replacement items might have similar problems. Also, as mike-y says, additional scuffing is probable due to installation.

Push for a partial refund, and get them installed already.....

+1 You could be compensated. I wouldn't go through the hassle of shipping them back and waiting for another set to arrive. Plus, the company will most likely blame the shipper. Just let them know about the minor cosmetic defects. They'll appreciate your understanding and hopefully you'll get something out of it.

It sounds like you really want to do an exchange. This is my opinion: if you have to post about it and doubt the opinions offered, then deep down you really want a new(er) kit. I think you should if you're planning to sell it later on down the road. Or you could just get credit for it or something like others have mentioned.

i think a partial credit works best because shipping back is a pain as well in addition to the additional freight fees

To be honest Im really on the fence about what to do. However, I didnt take into consideration the extra cost to ship the parts back (I guess I assumed the shipping costs should be taken care of by either KW or the Vendor). Unfortunately, I also doubt Id be able to get any sort of partial refund due to the fact that each party will probably just end up blaming the other (Vendor blames KW, KW blames shipper, Shipper blames whoever), but it doesnt hurt to try I guess. Thanks for the feedback.

Sounds like you answered your own question. Request your replacement and schedule your appointment before they ship...a couple of weeks is not long to wait for perfection.

I would just install what you have.

Who would be responsible for the partial refund? KW or the Vendor?

Get a refund. If you ever sell those one day it will hurt resale.
