Oregon Raceway Park - track day interest
Anyone interested in trying out the relatively new Oregon Raceway Park track this summer? The Oregon PCA is holding a HPDE there in late July this year. Heard it's a terrific new track...very technical, lots of elevation changes and off-camber corners.

Have fun out there at PR...it's a fun track. Needs some improvements (new asphault in areas)...but it's still a nice challening track. You'll love turn 1...nothing like doing 130+ in the straight.... headed downhill into a sharp left hander...you learn to really appreciate your brakes! ;-)

That's great news! I heard they were doing some improvements...that stretch (1-3) was really needing some new pavement...now if they can just do the last turn before the straight...that section is really rough too. |

yea, I agree. I really beat up my PS2's there last summer. I'm thinking of going w/dedicated track rubber this summer. Looking at the Nitto NT01 tire..

I'm hoping I can drive the NT01's on the 4-5 hour ride to ORP this summer and not have any issues. They aren't rated well at all for rain...so, hopefully it's dry driving down there. They are DOT legal, but are an R compound so they are not really meant for the street. Aren't the AD08's the same (R compound)? |

no they arent an r compound tire. they are a little worse in the rain but not terrible havent had too much experience with them yet. they worked well on my track day today did seem to understeer less with the wider fronts and square set up.

gotcha... you sure lucked out with good weather today! Getting a dry day and 60 degrees in Seattle in March and have it land on the same day as your track day is next to impossible...

i think the advans are rated fairly well in the wet and better than the kumho's in the dry.

I'm interested in trying that track. I guess the amenities are crude but I bet it would be a blast. I'm signed up for BMWCCA at PR 4/16 and PCA at PR 4/29. Praying for dry weather because the Kuhmos are horrible in the rain; I would have to put my stock wheels and almost worn out tires on.

nice Dawgdog...have fun out there! I'm going to hold off on any track days until summer...first one will be the Oregon Raceway Park in late July...then maybe the CCA event in September at PR.
Let me know if you are interested in the ORP event..it's 2 days (Sat/Sun) but I think you can enroll in just one day if you want. That's what I'm doing with a buddy...I think we are going to stay in The Dalles or Biggs Junction on Fri night (more hotel choices) and have a relatively short drive to the track Sat morning. |
