x5 and x3 rims interchangeable?

My daughter has a 2004 X3 3.0i with 19" rims. The 19" tires that are spec are really no good in snowy conditions. I have located 17" rims from a 2005 X5 that currently have 235/65 tires on them. In a 17" wheel, the X3 takes a 235/55 tire. I assume the X5 rims will handle the lower aspect tire no problem, but am wondering about any other differences, especially the offset. Are the X5 and X3 wheels completely interchangeable?

Yes, the ET varies between wheels, but so it does between different X3 wheels or X5 wheels. You can get X5 wheels in to X3 with no problem.
