Well, portable is stretching the word to the limit . A more appropriate word is 'removable'. A floor jack is portable.
Anyway, it's one of the more 'portable' lifts, but still requires precisely drilling your garage floor, and an oversize garage to store it. Plus you need 2 people to reinstall it, not to mention air tools. I'm going to stick to jack stands here . |

Haven't thought it all through, but for the weekend DIYer which this product was designed for, it seems like a good product as long as it is safe enough. It's nice to be able to put it away and to be able to at least get under if your garage is not tall enough for a typical lift.

Beats the sh1t outta jack stands brother, working on your back, not being to see anything...not even f'ing close despite being a low rise lift. One of the best things I've bought for my garage. I mainly use it for my Spec Boxster racer but it'll easliy lift the M3 and is even rated to lift my Tundra. Drilling for the anchors is the most challenging part of the install, but it just requires a good hammer drill and Bosch bits. I got it for $2050 delivered to my house including the motorcycle adapter and extra anchors to change the spacing for larger cars. Last edited by consolidated; 02-13-2010 at 12:29 PM.. |

Not fully extended, the garage door is up and there are bikes in the way.

It obviously makes sense for you. I was referring to my need to lift my car maybe once every two years, for a tranny oil change; hardly anything else I do requires having the whole car lifted flat at once. Not a good ROI for me . Depends what use it's going to get, I guess. And yes, I do all the maintenance on my vehicles and bikes. Have a good one.

I may center the lift more in the garage but I first need to swap garage door opener to a sidemounted Liftmaster 3800 jackshaft opener. http://www.liftmaster.com/consumerwe...lJackshaft.htm |

FYI, I've read over on some other forums, that some people have setup a group buy, I even saw a deal on another forum that already passed, like $1500 shipped.

Thanks guys, having a lift in my house is just bad ass.
Keep in mind if you have 12' ceilings you might be better off with a true two post lift with standing clearance, more safety features and have parking underneath. |

This was for a groupbuy back in January 2009. I'm guessing maybe if there are enough people who are interested, someone can organize a group buy. I would love one of these if I had my own garage, in the future i will! |
