Interior changes - thoughts and hopes?

  1. What do you think BMW will change for the ///M1's interior? Speculate away...
  2. What would you hope/like to see changed to the interior? Pray on...
  1. I think they will change the seats and steering wheel, both of which I would welcome a sportier style and some add'l 'grip' from. I imagine we'll retain the current ///M shift knob, but I think logo'd aluminum pedals and door sills will be standard.
  2. I'd like to see a completely revised instrument/gauge cluster and dash, but I think that's a pipe dream. Though, I could see them changing the faces of the gauges to include the ///M logo and likely revise the redline indicator. If the ugly dash remains (IMHO), I hope they at least cover it in alcantara or offer some other premium material. I'm hoping we see the carbon leather trim from the ///M3 and ///M5, too.
Curious to hear your thoughts. Just maybe Scott26 will chime in too, if we're lucky.

BMW interiors are boring all together. The M3 is ehhh....ok. I do like the VW and Audi interiors but that is a given. I do hope that the M1 is going to try something a bit more exciting too

You say boring, I say classic and understated. If I wanted the Audi ostentatious design, I'd buy one (an orange car - really). All in all, it's just a matter of personal taste.

audi is nice I sat in an a4 not too long ago; much better than a 3 imo. mmmm, maybe more room at the back, more cupholders, softer suspension? just sayin...

all joking aside, it's a tough one to speculate on, maybe that's why the low replies

I have no problem with current interior. It is how BMW has always been - very functional. As long as it got more extended leather options I would be happy.

If anything, having the 5er/7er dash would be a nice touch.

I always much prefer my car is understated, and I am pretty sure I am going to disbadge the ///M.

I want more tech inside, something similar to Ford's MyFord Sync.
Nice large 8 inch screen, with or without NAV...
Ipod/smartphone/bluetooth integration. without charging arm and a leg for it
Keep sports seats standard (obvious)
make short shift kit standard..
Sporty Aluminum trim with other trims optional.
Keep good level of sound insulation (for daily drivability)
make a decent sound system standard
Keep fit and finish on level with the best out there.

If you guys are looking for interior glitz, BMW is not for you. Functional and conservative is what BMW is about. That will never change.

I agree with what alot of others said. I like a simple interior. Porsche interiors are my favorite.

BMW interiors are classic and very little has changed throughout the years which makes it what it is... If I wanted something techy and more stylish I would not go GERMAN.. and go Japanese as they look way better than any european cars interior... no matter shape, color or technology. I picked a BMW knowing that I hate the orange dash lights because of the performance and pure driving capabilities of the car... after 2 years of driving my 1 series I am ok with the interior now...

I agree, I like the spartan look of a BMW interior. I just hope they make it a bit more masculine and sporty, while offering some improvement in materials wouldn't hurt either.

Suede (alcantara) dash would be hot.

I've never heard someone say that about an Aston interior before, especially with the alcantera. I do think the center stack in that particular Aston (I believe it's a DBS) is a bit flashy with the glossy piano black and shiny stainless trim. I like the interior of the Vantage myself.

Ye, Never heard anyone until today call Aston interiors crap.
To most they are the best in the business, even Top Gear Clarkson drools over them.

the only change you can say for sure is that the gauge needles will be red instead of white. All M cars have red needles.

I hope it is similar to what we have in the 135 now, but with small subtle changes that are noticeable when someone is paying attention....

Definitely the ///M gauges with the white versus the normal red/orange...

The current dashboard of the 1er looks fine to me, but nicer materials would be nice....overall I am a fan of the current E82 interior, so small changes would do it for me.

I don't see them making a dramatic interior change but I'd like to see the performance steering wheel, of course M gauges and better seats.
