Got a ticket. Fight or not? :/

So the other night I got a ticket for "Unsafe Turn/Failing to signal" VC 22107. Its my very first ticket. So I thought about using ticket assassin to fight it. But i'm not sure. What do you guys think? Should I fight it or not? And if people who've used ticket assassin before can chime in it'd be great. TIA!

Fairly simple question: did you
a) leave your current lane without your turn signal blinking
b) make somebody speed up, swerve, slow down, or stop by your change of lane even if your signal was on?

If you answered yes to either of those, and an officer saw you, then you are betting on getting the officer to forget or not show up. You don't really need to pay any money to discover that.

No, I haven't used ticket assassin myself, and have been to traffic school twice in 27 years of driving.

Ticket Assassin is a scam, I wasted money on it. Just do a written trial, if cop responds, do a trial de novo, if cop shows up change plea to guilty and get traffic school. Consult lawyer, I've written about this somewhere here before in more detail. Do a search.

I guess I did "a)". I was just going down a long stretch of road and there were absolutely no cars whatsoever. None in front, back, or left or right. It was a major road and i just turned into a residential street without signaling thinking that since theres no cars I wouldn't need to. Right when I turned, I saw the flashing lights of the cop :/. She said she noticed me because my passenger side headlight was out. And something about she was doing traffic that night so she HAD to cite me for not signaling.

That was pretty petty of the cop to write you up for that. Anyways...

VC 22107 states:
"22107. No person shall turn a vehicle from a direct course or move right or left upon a roadway until such movement can be made with reasonable safety and then only after the giving of an appropriate signal in the manner provided in this chapter in the event any other vehicle may be affected by the movement."

The way I see it is if there are no cars around I would site the "in the event any other vehicle may be affected by the movement" portion and see if that would help get you off.

my 2 cents

Or you could always ask for a waived or reduced fine + traffic school.

thanks
so I actually studied a case like that recently in my AJ class. If there are no cars around you dont have to signal. You should definitely fight it. The case I went over, the officer truly believed that you have to signal even if there are no cars around, but that is not true. If there were no cars around you, you should not have been cited.

my question is can the cop claim that they could have been affected?

Snake is betting on the cop not showing up since he did violate 22107 if he did A or B, (in rough layman terms).

Snake, no fix-it for the headlight being out??????
