Maps on Business Nav System
I have a 325i on order with the Business Navigation system as an option. I could not justify the extra A$3300 (US$2500) for the Professional Nav system, which appears to have map display, TV and voice recognition as extra features to the Business sytem. The Business system uses arrows on the screen and voice to guide the driver to a chosen destination. However, to have just the map display as an extra feature on the Business system would be a neat touch. Does anyone know if it is possible, say by installing new software, to coax the Business sytem into displaying maps?

Thanks for the reply. I guess the USA folk choose the Professional option because it doesn't cost the equivalent of US$5200 as it does here. Incidentally, the base price of the 330i in Oz is a$96500 or US$730001!

Maps upgrade BUSINESS
Come on you wizards. Someone from the programming world must know a work around for what Rob describes here. I too couldn't justify the extra price. There must be a way to get the maps displayed. Has anyone tried to load the Prof dvd in the Business setup?

Nope. It won't work. The hardware for business nav is completely different to professional nav. That's why you can only have OEM TV and voice recognition on pro nav. I believe business nav runs on the M-ASK (I've also seen it written as MAS-K and MASK) system, but pro nav runs on CCC (Car Communication Computer). The CCC is the only module that can display the map.
However, you can display video on the business nav screen using an external module. More details here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9293
