The Official DC Metro Fall Meet - Sunday October 22nd
Continuing on from the last DC Metro meet thread...
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29361 Preamble Well to get the ball rolling, we would like to first thank you guys for all the support and interest for another big official DC metro meet. We know that we are long overdue for a meet. Well, timing is everything and we feel the timing of this Fall DC metro meet is doubly good; i) the introduction of the MY07 E90/91 and E92s are generating a lot of interest and curiousity and ii) there are a lot of fine new members who have joined our community since our last big meet in May, a lot of whom we have not had the pleasure of meeting ouside the forum. Thank you all, once again, for taking the time to fill out our DC metro e90 registry. Our last meet in May, though relatively low-key and small, was a success in many ways. But we must admit, there were some areas we could've done better. How do we improve on it? BIGGER and BETTER, of course Passport BMW Saturday morning, ase2dais (Al) and I successfully finalized our negotiations with Passport BMW of Maryland, our last DC metro meet corporate sponsor. They remained supportive and enthusiastic of our relationship and in a nod to the strength of our local e90post community and the e90post forums as a whole, they agreed to generously expand their sponsorship package, to help us realize our vision of a kick-ass meet, a little better Thank you Mr. Joe Long, Mr. Dave Myers, Mr. Yves Badji and Mr. Peter Brizan of Passport BMW for your support and recognition. As a result of the rounds of talks, we are happy to report and bring back the following 'war-chest' of resources/goodies to you guys: -MY2007 E90/E92 328/335 technical demonstration, presentation, discussion by appointed product specialist and test drive availability -Lunch and Refreshments -Full venue set-up (parking, seating, tables, restrooms etc.) -Upgraded goodies bag for attendees (final contents tbd) -Various prizes for drawing and ‘Car of the Meet award’ -Commemorative front plate (as per last meet) -Discount coupons for Passport parts/service department (tbd) -Attractive prizes to be raffled off We might also arrange for other BMW models to be made available for test drives/perusal, if there are interests. Other activities planned: 1) DC Metro rally to final meet venue (multiple stages)-takes place before the Passport venue/meet 2) Photo sessions (various locations and time of day) 3) Social meet 4) Car of meet voting/awards. BUT pretty much the main attraction would be an ample opportunity to come out, meet each other, get to know each other and to have fun together, in an atmosphere of warm camraderie such as the one we have been enjoying here on e90post. Scheduling Date: Sunday, October 22, 2006 First meeting point: Wolftrap Park Directions. http://www.wolftrap.org/services/directions.html Wolf Trap is only three miles from the Beltway...just five minutes from Tysons Corner and 20 minutes from D.C. So while an evening at Wolf Trap feels like being in another world, it's really just a short drive away... and the parking is free. (Do NOT confuse the Dulles Toll Road with the Dulles Access Road. These roads run parallel to each other but the Access Road is for airport use only.) 1st Meetup Place & RollCall: 10:00am Sunday Oct 22/06 (these times may chnge a little) Wolftrap Nat'l Park Filene Ctr East Parking Vienna Va 10:00am-11:30am - Social Hr. Est Time Depart: 11:30am We will rally collectively in procession towards our meeting venue at Passport BMW. This rally will be covered by photos and videos. ROute is about 38 miles long and should take up about 45 minutes of driving fun. Final Meet Venue: Passport BMW, Marlow Heights, Maryland. Passport BMW Marlow Heights MD 5050 Auth Way Marlow Heights, MD 20746 Factor in about 2 hours of activities at Passport. Includes lunch session and various photoshoots. edit: updated meet details/info

Uh oh... I think my friend's wedding is that Saturday... I really want to go up Friday and stay up for the weekend, but I guess that's not happening. If I go up Saturday night... the wedding is going to be open bar so I'll be but hopefully I'll be able to drive up that night. So I will most likely be there hopefully.

... its all about you e90 guys that would like to welcome our new 335i frens onboard and share some comraderie.
support these newcomers like how once people supported you when you got your new e90s One great moment at BMW Dealership, we even teased Dave Myers that I would like to put him in a dunking booth. He laughed and daringly said "Hey! If you can bring one in, I'd get in it" hmmm Hold your breath guys, that conversation may not be the end of it yet The General Mgr Joe said " Hey, you can even do "Pie in the Face" I wonder if I can "Pie in the Face" my CA Yeah! thats what I like to do! Yves! get ready!

AL, that plus the other non-e90post aligned proud E90 owners off Passport's customer base. I am preparing a correspondence to circulate among the diplomatic community. I wanted to do this for the last meet but never had the chance. There are a lot of interesting E90s motoring around in our area....let's try to get a RHD or a non-us market model into the mix:
Just the other day I spotted a euro 330d E91 with VA vanity tag by Old Town...I wonder if he is a member here? I was chasing him down...

I do know that theres alot of discussion about this e92s on other boards, alongside e90s of crse, maybe we'll post our Dc Metro Meet there too. (other bimmer forums is a given, ie bimmerfest, m3forum, e46fanatics, m5board)
So, also these G35s, Audi fanatics will have a real taste of how a biimer got its name as the "Ultimate Driving Machines"

I'll be there.
My suggestion is to provide the agreed route from tysons to Passport in advance. Last meeting, some people got "lost" after getting separated by traffic lights or not being able to keep up with Shim.

I can help taking attendance at Tysons and at Passport. I'll come up with a sign up list which will include: e90post id, real name, car specs, size preferences for apparel, availability, etc. Also, can solicit volunteers to judge for car of the meet.

Frank, I hear you on the rally route, that's why we're keeping the course tighter. We will have a designated team member for that section (I'm thinking sixspeedsam). I think the logistics should be easier. Once assembled, the convoy will take off at 11:00 down 495 towards Passport.

Of course, you know I'm in! Can I volunteer my services with Shim on the video/photo of the event? I'll break out my digital SLR gear and lenses... maybe I'll try and borrow my friend's new L glass to take pics... or force him to come along And what is the keg in the parking lot policy for Passport? Hmm... e90 tailgate |

Count me in. If anyone is coming from near Dulles airport (Ashburn, South Riding, Stone Ridge, Chantilly etc etc), maybe we 'convoy' up to the meet.
