i doubt you'll be able to get both the bridge and the city skyline if you stay in the city. you can get a good shot of the city in the background up at twin peaks, but the bridge will be blocked. if you want, you can go across the golden gate bridge, and usually there's a couple stopping points along the road for views and stuff where you can take photos. or go to the NW areas of treasure island.

there's a spot called "the wall" that bikers hang out at, super nice views from there... try and find that spot, I don't exactly know where it is but it overlooks the bay

I found this panorama pix that has both the bridge and the skyline. Anyone know how to get to that point?

That's treasure island, isn't it? before you enter the tunnel on bay bridge towards east bay, there's an exit you can get off on the left hand side of bay bridge. Get off the freeway and you will get there. Its on the left hand side of the island. The view there is great, but I remember there are some fense that would make the pics look suck. Most likely the fense will be in your background.

You do realize that bridge in everyone's pictures is not the Golden Gate Bridge, right? Just making sure.

If you want to capture the Golden Gate Bridge, instead of the Bay Bridge, with the cityscape in the background, you'll have to capture it from the Marin headlands. The only problem is that the city will be far away and it may not show up as you would expect.

The shot from Treasure Island will be more impressive.

yeah you're right. Maybe I can take pix of the GG Bridge and then photo shop it so that the city will look bigger. hehehe that might work. thanks for the tip.

You can also get a good shot of your car and the city in the background at the old Naval Air Station in Alameda.

You can get an EXTREMELY nice shot at TWIN PEAKS, SF. You would need to take an aerialish shot of your car along with the WHOLE SF downtown area behind you...=D
