Engine shudders after idling for a bit..

..and a yellow/black engine graphic appears in the notification area between the tach and speedo where the time and outside temp are displayed. This is a long term Hertz rental. Shutting down the motor and restarting it clears the indication.

Can't seem to find a pic on the intertubes to paste in here.

What is the cause? Is it just a software glitch? The car did it at around 2200 miles on the odo.

Yep. Prestige collection I think they call it? Anyway when you rent long term you can negotiate a little bit. You can do a reservation for a standard 4 door sedan for 330 days at $36 a day. Add $10 a day for the upgrade and you're at $46/day, well within the daily limit for my company.

....I had an Expedition for a week once and it cost 2 grand. They paid it.
