Cracked Trim & Peeling Steering Wheel?

My mother's 328i has a problem - the wide/flat area on the steering wheel, on the left side, around the buttons, is peeling - similar to the coating on Audi's buttons coming off. It's very bad.

I also noticed that the wide expanse of laminated wood trim has cracked near the passengers vent (near the window) - there's one huge, vertical crack (hairline, but the piece has separated) and another next to it that's halfway down.

The car is very new so I'm wondering if BMW covers these things under warranty.

I just had mine redone. Should be covered under warranty.

What if its a CPO, but still under the original warranty?
Is it covered?

As long as its within the warranty allowance, then yes it is covered.
