Want to upgrade from 330i
Hi All -
I know I don't post much in here, but I sure as hell read a lot. Anyways, I have a 2006 330i that just hit 60k miles. CPO warranty, sport/premium/cold weather, etc - everything but iDrive. I want to find out what is the "best" route to take if I want to upgrade to say a 335i. Obviously a trade-in is going to blow (I owe 23k on the car) - I want to take as little of a hit as I possibly can. Just wanted to get some advice from you all, my fellow bimmians. Thanks a lot, ~asifjahmed |

+1 Also, you shouldn't read the forums. If you're easily swayed, you'd think the only E9x a sane person could be happy with is a 335i. Your 330i is one of the best daily drivers on the road. Keep it.

You would be under a lot of money if you sell now. I would suggest you keep it and upgrade when the next one is launched in 2012 or so.
Fact is, you would barely notice the difference unless you want to chip the 335i.

Gonna have to sell on your own, not trade. I paid $22,900 for my 06 sport 330i w/comfort access, no Idrive, 47k miles, 100k extended warranty from a dealer about 4 months ago.

Like others have mentioned, you'll have to sell it privately to get the most money. I'm not sure you'd be that much in the whole if the car is a popular color and is in really good condition. The '06 are still fetching a decent amount of money even around your mileage. And the market for used cars right now is pretty good - so you do have that going for you if you decide to sell.

KEEP IT!!!
Go test drive a 335i, And then come back and let us know if you want to go more in debt for that upgrade..(335i is my next car that i plan on buying after i pay my current E90 off, just can't afford the Twin turbos right now) I love my 330i and get a nice big smile every time i drive it.

I'm guessing that even if you're paying $600/month - you still won't have the car paid off for another three years. So you'll have an '06 in '12?
Keep it, pay it off, save your money, buy a house. |

A few reasons to keep the 330i:
- no hpfp or turbos to break or maintain - less speeding tickets generated - more fun to toss around because it's lighter Only one reason to get the 335i: - power and acceleration (well, that's 2 but they're really the same)

just mod your car get the new lci xenons & bumper etc stuff like that will make your car different...dont get into debt payoff the car then get another bimmer thats the best way to go....you shouldnt take a bad hit like that just for a 335i...pay it off first and you have the warranty so your good too!!!

Did you buy that car new?
I agree keep the car. I just bought an 06 330i w/ premium and cold weather packages for 22 from Carmax and it had 53k miles. You probably would sell for 21k. Plus you are looking at paying sales tax, doc fees, state registration fees, etc... I would say pay it off as fast as you can. |

Not to hijack the OPs thread, but since he appears finished here, what do you guys think is fair trade / private party value on my 330? I'm thinking of selling/trading it in the next few weeks/months as well, although I could just as easily keep driving it.
'06 330i w/ Premium and Cold Weather Packages (no ZSP, sadly), SIRIUS, heated seats, bluetooth, etc. 32500 miles - original in-service date is 11/05. I owe around $20k on the car. Its in very good shape, especially for a four year old car. A couple (3 or 4) of small rock chips on the front, but nothing major, and nothing you wouldn't expect to see on a car of this age. All 4 tires were replaced at 16k miles due to the Bridgestone cupping issue.

We're talking a whole second drop in 0-60 and a much much better 1/4 mile and blasting low end tourque. He will definitely feel it. But I do agree its probably better for him to keep his car if he owes that much on it.
