Fuel Pump Victim??

I was just coming off an exit trying to merge. I went to hit the gas while merging and the car barely moved and started shaking. Engine malfunction/reduced power light came on. I pulled over and the car was shaking.

I turned it off and started it again and the engine light was gone, car was running fine. I got home without it happening again.

Has anyone had a similar experience where it was ok after shutting it off and restarting it? Could it be a one time thing or is the pump definitely getting ready to go?

This is just what I need on top of what's been the shittiest couple weeks of my life.

had the same problem but my car was idle...ended up being the fuel pump

Got the long crank this morning when trying to start it. Finally started but was running rough. My 07 335i fuel pump didn't get me but it looks like this 09 will.

sorry to hear about that. The car shaking part doesn't sound like fuel pump.. could be something even worse.

Same thing happened to me last night after the car was parked for about 6 hours, and it had been running fine with no problems prior. I went to start it up and the check engine/reduced power warning came up on the dash and the car sounded like it was misfiring. I turned it off and restarted and it was fine. Drove it another 150 miles since and started it 4 or 5 times in between with no issues. Does that sound like a terminally ill fuel pump too?

(I just hit 30k and it already has had one fuel pump replaced before I bought it CPO from a dealer 6k ago.)

Bringing it to the dealer tomorrow. I'm trying to decide if I should take the chance driving it there. The dealer is only about 2 miles away. I might chance it as opposed to waiting for the flat bed.

It was the fuel pump. Getting it back today. It went at about 5,500 miles.

whats your build date? mine is a June '09. iv got 1014 miles but im driving up to niagra falls next weekend and the weekend after that im going down to atlantic city. getting nervous.

Build date was April 09.

I brought it to the dealer at 8 and picked it up at 2:30. I just hope this one lasts.
