Speed Governor 335i ?
I just got my 2007 335i 6MT at 17k miles. The first owner got this car through a lease and I am the third owner. Yesterday I decided to test the acceleration on this car and surprisingly it only went 135mph; when I reached that speed I couldn't accelerate anymore. And it felt like I was stuck at 5k rpm in 6th gear.
There could be two likely causes. 1. I shifted to 6th gear too early, causing too slow of an acceleration. 2. There is a speed limiter at 135mph. |

I have gone above that once just to see how high it would go. It isn't something to be really concerned with. If you didn't get the sport package with the car that it is limited to 135mph.

How often are you going to go that fast? I may have pushed the car to speeds I do not want to publicly name, but one doesn't go that fast too often.. or at least one shouldn't. Btw, 130 and 135, there isn't much of a difference lol 130 and 155, now there is a difference, but if something were to happen, it'd all be hell nonetheless... |

Something I found interesting. I bought my 328i used, and shortly after buying it I took it up to 145 just to see how stable it felt. Not bad... Anyway, never hit the governor, but I could see a car ahead, so I dropped to 75. Never felt like trying that since. The odd thing is that I don't have the sport package, although my VIN was ran at a body shop (front bumper cover respray), and it listed "sport suspension." Anyway, I don't have a good way to explain how I wasn't stopped at 135...

My car came with the 16s and doesn't have sports seats. That said, the standard BMW suspension is pretty stiff already (assuming that's what I have), and I must say I don't really want it any stiffer. I just wonder where my car would have stopped me. I assume since I made it to 145 without an issue it would be 155, but that just doesn't make sense since I don't have the sports package. The only thing I could think of was that VIN pull with the suspension. Got me wondering if there was a standalone option and if the suspension shift would adjust the programming. Meh, whatever, it's a mystery. Now I'm running 19's, so the test wouldn't be very reliable. I'll have my 16s back on for the winter, but no way am I going to max my car out on snow tires.

Over here in Europe you can tick the M-sport suspension option and not have the Sports package. Maybe that explains the CRAZED792 situation.

I have had mine up to 150 and it handled just fine. I mean the car feels solid as a brick...and to think that not too long ago, even super cars could not achieve those speeds. As I recall, you don't even really hear any wind noise until you are well past a 100. This car is simply amazing...I will always keep one one around.

E92 comes standard with the sport springs. The E90 does not. You have to order the sports pack on the E90 to get the sport springs.

In Europe when you order the M-sports package you get a different suspension setup than the sports package. Those two options are very different from each other.
