I would say the CLK. More hp, a lot more torque, and 7 speed tranny for shorter gearing.

Looks like the CLK350 does 0-60 in 6.7s according to a quick Google.

A 328i 6MT with an experienced driver should be faster - about 6.1s. Steptronic would knock a few tenths off that.

It's close, depending on number of passengers and conditions.

The main difference is that the american magazines accelerate from a roll, not standstill as they do in Europe, IMO.

I tend to trust Edmunds more than other car reviewers for this very reason. I also personally think 40-80 and 60-100 are more accurate measurements of a car's real world acceleration because 0- times are greatly affected by tires, traction, and driver skill in launching.

As for the 328i vs clk350, I reckon it'd be too close to call.

Plus, you can get the C300 Sport with a manual tranny.
It does 0-60 in 7.1 seconds.

for paying 12,000 dollars more for a mercedes and it only has like 35 more horsepower ... is super ridiculous because when you pay that much you should get more bang for your buck.

Dude your referring to a 328i which has 230hp while the CLK 350 has 268hp. I don't see how you think it is too close to call.
wishful thinking, but no way.. CLK 350 will kill the 328i, unless you have a
335i.

Driver skill launch.....HAHAHAHA

If Edmunds tested the clk350 at 6.4 0-60, an identical time to the one they got for the 328i, then yes I imagine it'd be too close to call. And what's so funny about driver skill in launching? You don't think a driver's skill level has an effect on how quickly he can get a car off the line?

Are you serious? More HP doesn't always mean more speed.

Consider how the car makes use of each HP, weight differences, and transmission differences. A 328i is equal to if not quicker than a CLK350.

Figured people on this forum would know this kind of thing.

agreed and you could get a 335i that has 300 horses instead of paying 48,000 at msrp for a clk 350...

CLK 350 is faster than 328i and beat the 328 by 1/2 sec and trapped at 4mph.

CLK350 (I'm driving my wife's now and I have a E90 330). The CLK350 has 268hp and a lot more TQ than the 328. The 328 may feel faster, but it's not.

CLK350 feels heavy, but that's typical "bank vault" Mercedes.

My wife got $10k discount on the CLK350 w/AMG Pkg. She's paying ~$450/mo on a 4yr/12k miles year lease ($0 Cap cost reduction). Neither BMW or Audit can touch that.
