Low trap speeds? Whats up?

I have a 2009 335i with a JB3 on Map 7, running 94 octane. I have the BM DCI, and running stock runflat 18's.

I am really surprised with my low trap times. The track tonight was 72 degrees or so, and my highest trap was 106. I am well versed with tracks and standard cars, but I am really surprised I am not seeing 110's..

My best time was:
13.1@105mph with a 1.9 60'

Whats up? I tried map 5 before and ran a 13.5@104...

whats the elevation and humidity? Those two factors have a pretty big influence on times.

700 feet elevation, and humidity is about 70-75% tonight.

Possibly silly question but were you sure you engaged the map? I made that mistake once...and got very similar trap/mph times as you did.

Positive. I have a boost gauge, and I have been switching between maps while making passes.

manual or automatic, sounds like slow shifts possibly if manual ... either that or revving too high

Probably has to do with ambient temps. If you were making the runs with a open element air filter, you have to keep your IATs down by leaving the hood open and cooling the engine compartment as much as possible between runs. If the car has very low mileage, it will run kind of tight. My 335i sedan picked up about 1.5mph at 2800 miles compared to when it was new. It is nearly running 110mph bone stock on 91 octane besides the JB+. (high 12's).
My JB3 will pretty much always run in the 111-114mph range on 91 octane. (Map 7).
Double check your map selection. Use better fuel if possible at the track. And the single most important thing, would have been a comparison of the stock map trap speeds. I was watching a new 425HP SRT8 Challenger struggling to do 13.9@ 101.8 mph in poor ambient conditions. So its easy to lose 6mph due to high DA, etc.

Probably conditions then. IAT temps, if you could monitor them, would give the biggest picture as to what was happening. Are you running any of the beta maps?

You can check to make sure you didn't push the couplers too far in the filters, and keep practicing. Getting good times out of manuals is never easy. Let me know if you want to try the 1.4 beta software, it's better at holding boost through shifts with manuals.

Please do not automatically assume that someone doesn't know how to drive. I have been driving standard for 7 years, and have been to track 6 out of the 7 years. I am usually the guy at the track that drives his buddies cars and runs better times because of shifting.

Sure, Where can I get a copy of the Beta? I have a chip burner sitting here asking to be used.

which track did you run the 105 trap? I have the same setup and run 108 - 110 the key is not to bog between 3rd and 4th gear.

I am in London let me know if you wanna try the St. Thomas dragw.

Woah there, buddy. No reason to lash out at one of the best and most informative sponsors on this site. He was just saying that overall, in our particular cars, the auto car are faster than the manual cars, and in our particular cars with the manual transmission, it's tough to get close to the auto cars.
The automatic transmision will hold boost on shifts while the manual will not, making it tougher for the manual driver to get a good time at the track. The 1.4 map will hold boost better, therefore helping you get faster. And no, that wasn't an insult to your driving prowess.

Tried both tracks. Same trap speeds. St. Thomas got me slightly better 60 foot times as there wasnt as much glue on the track. Cayuga was pretty consistent.

Relax and learn how to read a post. The post above the quote was for the people that were talking about practice, the post below the quote was a reply to the sponsors post.

What amount of boost are you seeing? Peak, near redline, or near the shift?

Have you hit the track with the JB removed ? That will give you a better picture. not saying its your driving but it could be the car or the track itself.
