bmw performance exhaust E90/E92 question

anyone know if the dme needs updating to partner up with the bmw performance exhaust? I understand the vacume hose for the butterfly valve in the drivers side muffler just gets plugged into a nipple that is welded onto the muffler assembly. The local dealer said some exhausts need dme reprograming. not sure about 335i.

No reprogramming needed (but your dealer may say its needed in order to flash you with a tune-unfriendly software )

the dealer said they would only update the dme if it required it but they were not sure if that exhaust required it or not. I come to find through many phone calls and research online that it does not. Just cut and bolt up.
they are also quoting me 1.5 hours labor. not bad in my estimation

They don't need to update any software. The Euro and US version of the exhaust is slightly different, the Euro version continues to have the left sided butterfly valve due to noise regulation while the US version is open all the time. The hose is plugged into a nipple similar to the "Golf-tee" mod and does not throw any codes.

The E92 Exhaust is an axle-back(mostly just the mufflers) while the E90 Exhaust is a cat-back system and cost about $800-1000 more. I have the E92 Performance exhaust installed.

Definetly no need to touch the DME for an exhaust.
