end of lease inspection.......
when your lease is up....and you plan on either re-leasing the car or purchasing it out right....does the dealership still require you to bring in the car for inspection or can i just negotiate this without them having to see the car....too many mods to rip out but i guess i'll have to if its a must.......somebody please give me a definite answer (prefer GTA BMW experiences) so i know what to expect in the next few months and what i should start looking to do with the car.........

if you plan on buying out the car you do not need to have an inspection done.

yes, you have. Everytime a transfer of ownership, you have too do both the saftey & emission inspection no matter how new the car is. But no need for the stupid end of lease inspection that BMW try to scam you

if you decide to return the vehicle, bmw can send out a 3rd party adjuster to come and view your vehicle, either at your place of abode or your work..

then you drive it back to the dealer when ur lease is up..they usually check it with a couple weeks remaining...obviously the dealership gets a report of what needs to be fixed and pics of the vehicle at the time of inspection so you cant fudge any details

when the guy comes to check it out, do they tell you same time if everything is fine or if you have to pay for something? or you will never know until bmw sends you a bill?

Or you can accidentally drop $100 at the inspector's foot and restate: That so-called dent is really a scratch that'll buff right out, right?

you only need to have an inspection done if you are returning the car to BMW...if you are buying out the car BMW does not have to inspect the car...

3rd party inspectors inspect ur car thoroughly inside and out looking for anything they can put in the report in order for leasing company to scam you, any minor defects will be noted but not always chargeable, non-oem items will also be noted and you need to either supply to the dealer the oem equivalent the day you bring it back to the dealer, or you will have to pay for the oem part, dealer price.
after the inspectpr thoroughly inspected your car inside and out, they take photos of the more significant defects/wear and tear and save everything in their portable PC and print you out a report on the spot with the total $$$ you owe at the bottom, some inspection companies also make the report available online so you can use your VIN to log in and print out the full report with every single details and photos. The entire inspection can last up to an hour, the photo taking and measuring (yes, they use measuring tape to measure any visible marks and take pictures of them)of any marks/scratches is very time consuming. the day you actually bring ur car back to the dealer, the leasing manager will again inspect your vehicle in a lesser degree, he will largely refer to the inspector's report and look for any additional wear/tear...etc, that shouldnt last more than 30mins very teadious process if you ask me and I've been through one, not fun but of course if u BABIED your car and OEM everything and it's prestine inside-out the day the inspection happens, the inspector could have a rather short report for you

i believe if you extend it, they will still check it and it will be considered leasing a used vehicle. they generally dont extend it on the same lease and do up a whole new lease altogether which would technically mean you get the extended warranty. ask bmdblu

what if you have a safe lease warranty that you've paid additional.. apparently. it allows you to have up to $1000 damage per part ... eg door, rim, etc.... and up to $7500in total.. obviously normal scratches is considered wear and tear..

bump, wondering if anyone has a definitive answer...
if i plan on buying my lease, but the car currently has mods (non-rft, exhaust, etc.), must i remove these things before the safety check? i'm not talking about the lease inspection where they check for dings, scratches, but the mandatory safety check that the car must go through before they sell it back to you. |
