Should I Keep My Car At Lease End???
So my lease will be up in December and I'm wondering what to do. I have a 2007 e92 328i that has basically no options. Black/Black, Manual. I have 41K KM on it now and estimate about 47K when my lease ends. My residual is $26,500.00. I really want a 335 sedan with auto so I don't really want to keep it. The car is in mint condition. The stock wheels and tires have never even seen the road and will be put back on when I return the car. So do I keep it and sell it private or just give it back? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the other cars (that match your model) that are being sold privately. Is it being sold the same as your buy back? or more? or less? these are all the obvious things you have to consider. Also, with the current economy/market, do you want the hastle of selling the car privately? haggling with offers? competing with US based sellers trying to convince Canadians to import? or are you confident it will sell easily? or do you want the freedom of handing the car back and getting a nice deal on that the new 335i you were dreaming about? Its an interesting topic that requires research and analysis. |

General rule of thumb these days would be not to keep any BMW at lease-end. I'd say they are all underwater, or best case scenario you'll deal with all the hassles of selling privately, only to break even.

I don't plan to keep my car, i really want to save up for an M3 next. (although i have a sinking feeling that in 3+ years the next M3 will probably have some type of v4 engine with quad turbo's judging by how BMW wants to be dynamic and efficient, and "Climate Change" friendly. **PUKE**

There are too many used E90 in the market now due to the fact everyone is returning upon lease termination.
too many used cars, dealers are over stock and the values go down. that's good for people want to buy pre-owned E90.

I'm revisiting this now because I'm getting closer to my lease end and may actually keep the car. 26K + tax doesn't seem like much now. The cheapest CPO I could find is 39K and the cheapest on Autotrader is 35K. Hmmm what to do.

Yes you see them at auto trader and at the dealer ship for a higher price. But there are various reasons why they are listed at that price. Bottom line they never sell for that price. |
