Sorry Dude...

That can be fixed so that it doesn't grow, but you'll still see it.

I've had a crack about 6 inches long that I had repaired a while back so it doesn't spread. Got it done at a hut in the Canadian tire parking lot on Sheppard near Leslie for about $30. It did the trick.

It's gotten annoying though, I'm going to have it replaced.

I replaced mine 2 weeks after purchase my car. I went Zibart on Warden and Ellesmere. I dont remember the price, but they offered the cheapest rate for an OEM windshield. Stealership charges $1500!

i have a similar problem, got a massive crack from some insane rock from the 404.
going to need a windshield replaced once the lease is up, but i want to hold tight until i'm closer to the end of the lease.

you might want to try ron tordoff (his info is floating in the forum somewhere), apparently, he does good work in fixing chips. i showed him a picture of my crack and he said he could make it look better but not like oem and with such a crack, any type of injection filler might not diminish the chances for further crack propogation.

i am also interested to know if the bmw logo is on the windshield that was replaced like soni.

Ron is great! He can refer you to other windsheild glass place as well.

For me, I'll stick with BMW windsheild... after having some horrible experience with aftermarket windsheild on another car.

If claiming the screen under insurance would you do it through the dealer or do you think apple\speedy would do a good job?

I need a screen also and am wondering if there is any reason not to go to the dealer if insurance is paying for it?

Thanks!

Definitely replace the screen at the dealer if you have low comprehensive deductible. You should check with your ins broker first b/c some ins. co only cover after market parts and you might have to pay for the diff if going with oem. I once replaces my old A4 with after market screen and had no problem with it ever after. The parts manufacturer and installation are important when choose to use non oem parts. GL

Thanks for your reply. I would definitely want OEM either way. I called insurance and they said they have preferred shops (Apple & Speedy) but when asked they said I can do it at the dealer too. So in my mind if I am paying the same amount for my deductible I might as well do it at the dealer because it will end up costing me exactly the same.

Dealer and non-dealer quotes are both more than the deductible but obviously the dealer is more - nearly double I think from speedy\apple (GTA).

Nope, no logo. I was told the only way to get it with the logo was from the dealer. I called many places and they all said they can get OEM and non OEM and that none of the OEM ones will actually have the logo. BS as far as I know! All I know is that Ive had no problems what so ever.

OEM glass is expensive might be 800 bucks for a new windshield? just have it replaced under your comprehensive coverage, depending on your deductible.

your car insurance should cover it on your premiums, i just got mine replaced yesterday and i paid $200 deductible, the OEM part with the rain sensors can cost close to $1000 for full replacement, so paying it out of pocket will suck ass

they will also be replacing all the rubber seals around the windshield as well

Hi guys,
i called apple glass auto, they quoted me $1260 for OEM and $750 for aftermarket. So i decided to call local shop's who deal with windshields and was quoted $380 for the same brand "Pilkington" windshield on my car but does not have the bmw logo. What you guys think?

Have you considered using insurance? I think I will go through them and use a dealer as everywhere I called is more than my deductible. I didn't find anything as low as $380 but I only asked for OEM and mentioned I have the rain sensor and the tint strip at the top.
