My friend told me a few days ago that theives nowadays are jacking your remote signal when you unlock your car. They have a remote where it stores your signal when you press unlock. They record it and jack your stuff inside the car. Anyone heard of this thing or its just BS?

Totally possible as long as the receiver is tuned to the right frequency.

I wouldn't worry about it because the thief will need to know that you park at the same location regularly. If it is a place you go regularly, and it is not a secured parking location, then I recommend using the key to unlock the door instead.

Our keys are supposed to have a rolling code, much like garage door openers with rolling code, so it would be impossible to steal.

However, I have heard of high end X5's in NA and Britain getting jacked like this. But I believe the thiefs have to be professional with high end equipment and the vehicles have to be worth it for them to take the effort.

Yeah I heard about it long time ago. In Moscow thats how they steal nice cars. 2 ways.
1st.
The owner goes to the super market while they crack the code and steal the car.
If that doesn't work they do come to the window with a nice piece and get it that way and drive off.

If those guy are that professional just to steal the 3-series, but not a 5 or 7 or 1 or more expensive cars, I don't really mind as long as they really steal and drive the whole car and ship away from canada. So insurance can get me a LCI.

once i was at a mall parked beside a modded mazda 3, when i unlocked with the remote, the mazda 3's engine beside me got started and the headlights came on.

i was like WTF?. no one was inside the car.
I was like someone must be walking to his car to do a remote start, but i waited for like 5 mins, no one came. lol..

now i think i might have started his car with my remote. If i see this car again at the mall, i'll try it out again.

the car will shut off after awhile if no key inserted. it's different times for every car
