How are 335d sales going in Canada? Any incentives?

Just wondering - seems like dealers are stuck with their diesel cars, is it only a local impression or is the 335d a hard sell right now?

Also, what kind of incentives are we looking at? What kind of deals have you guys had recently?

For me, it was the lack of a manual transmission option.

I ordered a 335i.

Don't get me wrong, I have a 6MT, but the auto tranny fits the diesel engine better because of the 5000rpm redline. You wouldn't want to be shifting every 2 secs due to the narrower rpm bandwidth.

Re: 335d demand, I think of it as a statement car. A statement to choose green.
If you look at the cost savings of diesel vs. gasoline (don't forget that diesel currently costs more than gas!) taking into account the 20-30% improved mileage with diesel, it will take 5-10 years(!) of driving to make up the initial expense of driving the diesel engine.

Diesel Fuel

I beg to differ - diesel costs 76.9 cents a litre, versus $1.05 (or more) a litre for 91 octane.

You might be right. I was just stating why I wasn't interested. No MT, no care, generally speaking.

But I also have no interest in "statement cars", particularly ones with an environmental message.

In my opinion, diesels aren't statement cars. Hybrids are.

Does a big MAC Truck consitute as a statement truck?

Yea, the carbon footprint is smaller than a gas engine, but we bought our 335d because:

1. Man it is fun to drive!
2. Fuel Mileage
3. Man it is fun to drive!

Opps,

Forgot to answer the OP. We bought the last 335d in Edmonton in June. No X5d's left. Looks like sales here a pretty good, we were told most of the dealerships alotment was spoken for.

We got just over 5k off.

I just picked up a 335d over the weekend, same 2.9% lease and finance rate, and you also get a $3000 delivery credit (in BMW speak: discount)

Is that on top of whatever you negotiated as a discount? i.e. is that 3000$ considered trunk money?

They seem to be doing OK, incentives are similar to the gas models, had to have mine shipped from eastern Canada at the end of May. Have yet to see one other than mine on the road yet though.
