Toronto - restaurant suggestions
I'll be in TO this coming weekend to celebrate an anniversary.
Looking for a few good restaurant suggestions downtown. Thanks. |

Spuntini is an awesome italian restaurant. The environment is very italy, then after that you can head over to panorama for beautiful views and dessert

I've had good experience with Scarmouche as well. View is good at sunset and food is pretty decent.
If you want great service, Splendido is great.

I was just there saturday night for Summerlicious. They had, by far my favorite menu amongst several top restaurants including Auberge Du Pommier, Corner House, Madeline's (formerly Sur Sur). |

Scaramouche is definitely making the final cut, along with Canoe. Senses might be a little too 'modern' trendy for a romantic dinner, but a good place for pre/post theater. What about Mistura,Sassfrazz,Fifth? anything else? |

IMO, Canoe is not that good. The only thing that it's really good for is the view. For a touristy location, 360 up in CN tower is actually not bad, though it gets noisy and I guess the food is a little to "typical". Since you are not really interested in modern trendy, C5 @ ROM would be out of the question.

For the best italian pasta in downtown! I have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and many other special gatherings there. |

Also, Pier 4 is another seafood place right by the docks! For a nice lake view and dine-in, cant get better then that, if you like seafood http://www.pier4rest.com/ |

I'm definitely not looking for touristy, more of a 'locals' hot spot, where do they dine and wine their wives/girlfriends on weekends. I'm looking to spend about $200-$300 for the meal.

Not really downtown (Yonge between York Mills and Lawrence), but Wildfire Steakhouse and Wine Bar is a great place for a date or special occasion.

If you're okay with Etobicoke, there's this great place called Eden Trattoria at 58 Marine Parade Drive. Magnificent view of downtown Toronto skyline along the Etobicoke waterfront. Prices are reasonable.
http://www.edentrattoria.com/index.html view is something like this on a clear night, but the restaurant is at ground level of the same building. |

There was a previous thread about great restaurants in the GTA.
Here's a list that I put together. Colborne Lane Rain - asian fusion Sotto Sotto - italian Canoe Harbour sixty - steak Blowfish - Sushi Jacobs & Co. for steak Kultura for tappas Rodney's for lobster and oysters One Restaurant - Yorkville Noce - queen west Starfish-best seafood in town Auberge de Pommier Scaramouche North 44 Celestin Barbarians-steak Pangea Le Sélect Bistro Le Paradis Five Doors North-italian-fun Ferro Splendido Crush Marben Le Select Bistro Hys-steak Octagon-steak If you don't mind a bit of a drive from the GTA to Etobicoke my favorite italian is Via Alegro, and I'm picky since I'm Italian If you enjoy wine they have a ridiculous selection, the largest in North America.
