Settings erased...
I got in my car yesterday only to notice that all my settings have been erased, everything from the seat settings to my presets on the radio, even all my iDrive settings. Anyone know what would cause this and how I can keep it from happening again?

Either used the other key or battery issue.

I've been going through this same thing since I got my car and the dealer still can't figure it out. I just had my car back in the shop for them to look at again and all that BMWNA authorized them to do was swap out the Door actuators with a supposedly new model.
I'm glad to hear at least someone else is experiencing the same issue, Hopefully we can find a fix for it. I'm sooo tired and annoyed of resetting everything when i get in the car, that i'm half tempted to just trade it in. See my story here. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=279389

I've had my battery unhooked and didn't lose any setting. Please explain what you mean about using the other key. I've never had this problem...just curious.

computer glitch. have you paired your phone w/ the BMW bluetooth ?
this could happen if you are not using an approved phone by BMW. happened to me 2 yrs ago. they ran a software upgrade, and learned that the phone (verizon LG) was conflicting w/ the cars computer. i was a non believer, but when i got an approved phone, i never had the problem again. go figure. |

I have been using the same key from delivery and this is the first time this has happened.

But when you go back to the other key, they will be back. Personally, I have the same settings on both keys, since I am the only one to drive the car.

I had this happen to me a few months ago. I've only used one keyfob since i've had the car, and its never happened since. All of my settings re-appeared once I got out of the car, walked away and then came back.

Mine does this every few months, and also erases the time on the clock -- I thought it was the "Poltergeist Package" that's normally installed only on German home market cars!
I telecommute and the car is often left parked for days at a time. Since the electronic gizmos are a constant drain on the battery I thought that might be the problem. It's not (yet) annoying enough to take the car to the dealer.

I actually had this happen last night as well. In my case I valet parked the car and then later wanted to put my sun glasses in the car and used the metal key to unlock/lock the car. Now I can understand how that may cause the settings to change but when the valet returned my car with fob (I have comfort access) all of the settings for that fob had disappeared. Everything, iDrive, radio... I actually thought for a second they gave me the wrong car.
