Has anyone managed to install a cd changer in an E93 cabriolet as yet ?

Been looking for a way to install an aftermarket changer into my E93 without any success. Has anyone done this, or have you heard of anyone managing it as yet please.

Why are you looking aftermarket, price? you can get the factory unit for about $550, car is prewired, but will need coding at the dealer once installed.

Generally the aftermarket ones do FM modulation to play on the radio and are poor at best.

Time to go 21st century and convert all those funny CD things to an Ipod or USB stick!

I have an MP3 player but the quality via the aux socket is nowhere near as good. I already have a changer which I know gives excellent quality, previously fitted to my 525. I just need to know the interface unit that I need, and where (no rude answers) to stick it !!

I found the picture of the retrofit on realoem, but it give no clue as to where they put them in the E93. What does the current unit you have use for outputs, you could probably custom wire it into the aux port instead of needing an additional interface module for the head unit.

Have you tried encoding some MP3's at a high bitrate (256Kbps or more) and dump them on the hard drive? Seems to me that would be a cleaner audio chain than dropping a CD changer in, especially if the changer isn't using an optical or digital in/out. You would for sure be able to have more music available at any give time. That's what I do on my E93.

Good luck.
