where to get oil change in the GTA for 3-series

hey guys!

thinking about doing an extra oil change before my regular scheduled oil change on my 2006 bmw 325xit; i plan on keeping the car, so i don't mind doing the extra change - heard it was beneficial for the car. i know bmw town & country charges about $130 for it...

is there a 3rd party shop i can go to do that is trustworthy/reliable for an affordable price? i live in markham, ontario. thanks!

+1 on Bimmersport. Place is great, but kinda far for Markham peeps.

For a simple oil change, try Speedstar. Albert or Frank will be able to help you out.

Seriously though, you can do it yourself. It is really really easy.

Speedstar is in Markham, just make sure you bring all that is required (the oil filter...etc), and if you have a specific oil you prefer, bring that too, but Speedstar has good oil as well in stock.

It's great that you plan on doing the oil change more periodically. I always do it every 5000km.. never listen to manufacturer's recommendation, because as we all know, they have a certain conflict of interest.

Speedstar is close to you. Call and make an appointment with Frank. Ask if they can get the filter for you (they usually have them in stock) and they have a supply of Motul oil (excellent).

What standard of oil does the 325 require? The 335 requires LL01. I think the Motul brand that they have in stock is not LL01, but only LL98.

If the 325 requires LL98, then the Motul they have in stock will do swimmingly...

if you change the oil every 5,000 the LL standard doesn't matter (LL = long life standard)

+1

$10 is still $10. But I think it's more close to $20 at least.

that is true...but if you compare the prices realistically, going elsewhere isnt going to save you all that much $$$. it will save you a lot of time, thats for sure. dealers are slow at doing everything!

im thinking mr. lube has pretty cheap oil changes. full synthetic costs ~$95 tax in. so add your dealer bought filter, and you are around the $120.

please list some places that will give you full synthetic oil, oem oil filter, and add labor charges which is less than $100. unless you know the garage and they are doing you a favor, i dont think you can get it for less than $100 out the door.

these arent cheap toys with cheap maintenance and cheap parts...you gotta pay to play

so i called up speedstar about the oil change.. the guy estimates it's about $160 all in - thats' even more than the dealership.

he figured i'd need two bottles of the motul oil $59.50 + tax x 2

labour is $25

and the filter is somewhere around $16-18.

he said i'd have about 2-3L oil left over for next time... why is it so pricey?

because its good oil! If you bring your own oil and get them to do it, you may be able to save some cash.

search, you will find there are several types of oil you can use and may be able to pick some up if its on special at Canadian Tire or Walmart (ie Mobil 1).

I believe Bimmersport charges $110 plus tax for oil change. Give them a call and see what oil they use.
