What's acceptable delivery km?

Hi all,

Tmr is the big day. I have one question that I want an honest opinion. What's the acceptable delivery km? I got confirmation that my new car has 90km before delivery.

Sales said it's normal b/c of PDI and all. I don't take that BS b/c my 12 cars in last 7 years never had more than 30 km on delivery. What do you think I should do tomorrow? Should I take it easy and let it slide? Or should I kick it up a notch? I don't want to be an a$$hole but man, 90 km on a brand new car seems a lot.

Thanks

You gotta be an asshole in that situation 90 is way too much. The most acceptable should be 30kms. That's why when you purchase a new car, on the sheet, odometer indicates 30. I would complain, If I were you

your car may have been driven from the train yard back to the dealership instead of having it transported on a truck. sometimes this happens if the customer wants the car delivered faster

If I do complain, what compensation should I ask for? Again I don't want to sound like I am trying to pry things from the dealer. But again, they are stealership right? hahahaha

20km here, and it was transported from Quebec to Vancouver.

You could have a look at the tires (especially rears) to see if the car has been abused or test driven.

I got in 7KM.

I think anything beyond 50 is not acceptable. Unless your get some good compensation.

When you are paying almost 2K in delivery charges, they better make sure that they actually "deliver" it rather than drive it to you.

What are my options here? Considering that I already got a really good deal, I don't think the dealer will budge. And I don't want to be an a$$. Really it's not worth my time to argue, but just hate to accept the fact that my brand spanking new car has 90km pre-delivery milage on it. Waiting for better suggestions!!!

IMO, you should at least get some extra stuff.

I'd say go tell the sales that 90KM is not normal. You don't want to be an ass but this is just not right.

Ask him for some freebies like iPod cable, gas card or anything over 100 bucks retail. Usually sales should be able to arrange you something.

Mine had 7km on it at delivery. 90 seems like a lot. But what is your concern? Are you just trying to use the fact that it has an unusually high initial mileage to get some free stuff out of the dealer? If you're just pointing to the odometer and saying, "I want free stuff," you're going to come across as petty, cheap, and opportunistic, and whatever you get is probably not going to be worth the goodwill you're going to lose as a result.

Personally, I would be concerned about why the car has what looks like excessive mileage for a new car and I would want a reasonable explanation from the dealership as to why the mileage is so high. As long as I were satisfied that there was a reasonable explanation for the unusual reading, and that the car had been driven by a responsible person in a responsible manner, I wouldn't be concerned about what is really an insignificant overage.

If the car had been test driven a few times or otherwise used for a purpose not related to normal transportation, inspection, and testing, then I would have more concerns.

Are you sure it really has 90km? On my factory order sheet it says that the expected delivery kilometers to be 90. My car isn't even built yet so they would have no idea how many kms it will have when it arrives and I assumed they just put down 90 to be safe.

I had 90 kms on mine, didn't complain since I got a great deal on the car, + sales experience was very good. Tires were not worn excessively... I know the car was used a few times around the block.
