Radio periodically does not power on
Has anyone ever encountered this? This has happened to me 3 times already but I cannot find a pattern nor can I reproduce this. Once in a while, my radio will not power up. Usually I turn off my radio before I turn off the car. Once it is not able to power on, there is no way to power it on. I try to pop a cd out and in and still nothing. I try to hold the power down and still nothing. I also try to use the bluetooth phone audio via the speakers and still nothing. The phone audio fixture does activate but I hear no sound. If I choose to fix this, I would need to turn the car off and back on. This happens on both sets of keys and I have comfort access. Any ideas?

Maybe related to timing
Hey,
I have encountered this three times now, within the last 6 months since purchasing my 09 E90 with Logic7. The dealer near me said they have talked to BMW, and they are aware of the issue. As the dealer stated, if you turn off the car and wait 10 mins or so, the problem clears up on its own. My theory is that it occurs when pressing the START button prior to, or at the same time as, the radio initializing. Now I wait until the radio fully initializes (i.e. displays channel info) before pressing START, and I haven't had the problem since. Since it doesn't occur consistently, I am pretty sure it's a timing thing. |

You have a 2009 car. Just take it to the dealership. The warranty will cover it.

There are a bunch of threads on this.
I had this problem too. I took it to the dealer and had them look at it while getting my HPFP replaced (at 2500 miles). Afterwards, they told me they upgraded the software. So far, I haven't had the problem reappear. In another thread, someone mentioned leaving a CD in the player helps solve the problem. I don't recall if I had a CD in my player but I leave one in all of the time just in case. |
