Does anyone still have a subwoofer in the trunk? (Gas latch issue)
After seeing previous threads about how many posters have removed or disconnected their trunk subwoofers due to the gas latch issue, I was wondering ... does anyone still have a subwoofer in their e90, or was anyone able to resolve the issue with the gas latch that keeps breaking from the vibration of the subwoofer?
I would seriously like to do a custom fiberglass enclosure in my e90 with a single 10" sub, but if my gas latch is going to keep breaking, it doesn't seem worth the trouble. |

it shouldnt be a problem, It took a year after I installed two 12s in a vented box before it broke 2 weeks ago.

Trust me if you have enough bass it will break.

JoeyFiasco, I've heard a lot of complaints over the problem, and no one seems to have a solution.
By the way, for those who have experienced the problem, exactly which part is breaking? |

This is new for me too... guess they post it in another forum.
Had an E90 customer with a trunk sub for 2 years without problems. Still in there. |

I've already broken two. The part is the spring thing that when you push on the gas door it opens it enough to get your fingers and pull it all the way open. Then push to close and it goes all the way in. In my case both times, the spring stays out and won't go back to the closed position. I have just taken it out and just use my fingertips to open the gas door. Hope that makes sense.....

I have one Rockford Fosgate P12 and it doesn't break anything. As long as you do not have excessive bass, you will be fine.
