What's the Difference?
Hello,
I am trying to find out the difference between the 2 of the N52B30 engines found on 128i and 130i. I hope there are some mechanics out there to shed some light on this. Same engine but 2 very difference outputs. On 128i: 230 hp (172 kW) @ 6500 rpm and 200 ft·lbf (271 Nm) @ 2750 rpm vs On 130i: 265 PS,262 hp (195 kW) @ 6650 rpm and 315 Nm @ 2750 rpm Thanks! |

USA smog control, and could be some different tuning. Different power bands for US vs. Euro drivers.
Not sure about specific parts though, as I am not a mechanic.

I think it's the more advanced 3 stage intake, and also, it's the fact that the US is a weird market and BMW is too afraid to have a car too close in performance to the 135i for a much lower price, hence why we only have two models, 128 and 135, vs europe- 116, 118, 120, 123, 125, 130, 135.... did I miss any? As far as emissions, I'm sure it's just as clean, like the 06 e90 330- had 255hp, and the same engine in the X3 and then the Z4 3.0si both had 265
