6FL - my iPhone is charging when the car is off and locked?

I left my iphone hooked up in the car this morning (07 335i with USB/Ipod) and when I went out to get it 3 hours later, the screen was on showing it was charging. The car was off and locked for 3 hours; is this a feature? I'm guessing it only uses a very small amount of juice.

I believe when you open the door, the car wakes up and provides power to the USB connection and that's why you saw the iPod charging. When you leave the car, it takes a while for the car to go to sleep. I don't think it provides power during the entire time.

This makes sense! I guess it gives power to the USB port, but not the DC power ports since whatever is plugged into the USB likely takes up much less power, and you can run the radio without ACC on.
