The BMW 3 Series Comparison Drive‏

Anybody else going to this at Downsview? I signed up for it awhile back on the BMW website, and got an e-mail yesterday that I was picked to attend. Going on May 30th, ironically I should also be taking delivery of my new 328i that same week if everything stays on schedule.

Got an invite for this yesterday (I didn't sign up for it via the BMW site though), registered with a buddy and we're confirmed for Friday, June 5th (5-7pm). Should be fun... for anyone that has been in the past what other makes/models of cars were there beside the 3 series?

I'm assuming an A4 and a C-Class. Not sure if they will have any of the Japanese competition (G37, etc).

If its just the A4 2.0T and lower end C-class it won't be much of a comparison assuming there is a 335i there... would be much better to compare the 335i with an IS350, G37, etc. Not that I'm even remotely interested in anything other than a BMW at the moment mind you.

I got the email yesterday...signed up for the June 6th 8am event. all the other 'good' time slots were booked. How many people do they have at each session?

against the
Audi A4, MB C, and Lexus I

I think they are suppose to have the IS250, C-class and A4 2.0T.

a friend of mine in montreal went to this event this past Sunday.

They had a IS250 AWD , A4 2.0, C300 4 matic.

As for BMWs - 328xi, 328 xi manual, 335xi, 323i, 335d

You are supposed to compare the A4, C300, IS250 against the 328xi
All cars are all wheel drive for that test.

They have added a 323, 328, 335, and the 335d. but that is just to give the opportunity to test them also. The main comparo is 328 with other makes...

then you can compare the 328 from the 335, 323, and 335d.

I was there last Saturday (Montreal)

Makes sense, since I test drove all of those (also the G37X) before deciding on the 328xi. It should be fun to test them all in a track environment though, looking forward to it.

anyone know why they didn't include a G35/G37 in the comparison? I'm much more interested in that than a Lexus IS.

LOL, hopefully I should be getting my new one just before this event, so I wonder what they'll think of me.

Ok, I'm stupid but I still don't understand. There's a 335xi on the list, and the G37x sedan is the price of a 328xi which makes it a perfect comparison IMO.

Maybe they're being sneaky and the comparison is only against cars that BMW thinks are not as good...

It's probably because the main objective of the test drive is for the 328i and its direct competitors.

BMW just simply offers the rest of the 3-series lineup for potential customers to test out. If they offer the G37X, then they would probably need to line up for a C350 4-matic and a Audi A4 3.2Q
