LOL.

I have a shift knob, do you think it matters if it's for MT or AT? It's just a shift knob.

I was just joking with MteK. I recently purchased just the LSD (I'm lucky to have a bolted one) from Quaife and they told me it matters if the car is AT or MT, no matter it's just the core. It was a joke.

Yes, he should clear up if it's auto or manny. Auto's tend to have bolted and the manual is welded. I'm guessing by the price it's auto.

well thing is. if ur e90/e92 has a welded diff, u can still buy it, but it will require the housing for the diff, and that u'd hav to buy from harold (hp autowerks)

for the auto guys, this is easy because u dont need the housing since our diff is not welded, so it would be a sick addition for us. i'm still thinkin about it...

You better make sure the Quaife LSD is the right size for your diff. BMW has a couple different size diff housings.

There are autos with a WELDED diff (after 03/2008). No offence guys, but do your homework. Your VIN and a simple email to Birds Auto (google it) with the part number of the diff being sold will answer all your quenstions. The guys at Birds Auto are simply awesome. Harold at HP will also know since he's local to you (US).

and that's important to know if you are changing out the entire pumpkin, which you have to do if you have a welded diff.

but it's the same core for both.

This might help you figure out what you have:

AT:
331-0756-1279 old bolted
331-0757-2055 new welded

MT:
331-0756-1228 old bolted
331-0757-1187 new welded
