turn of day time running lights?

Hi,

Do you guys know any place in Toronto where I can get someone to program my 2006 330i to not have daytime runners on?

I am buying a unit that allows my halos to be used as daytime runners and understand I need to have programming done to shut off the current daytime runners?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
- Sumo

Can this be done without throwing an error message on the 06?

You dont need to go to a dealer.....

When the car is parked, go thru the menu options in the car... You'll see a key icon with a check...

Push enter... Scroll down until you see a Headlight with a Sun icon.. You can turn the setting on and off like that.. if you have any problems, write back.. I'll walk you thru it on the phone.

Daytime lights are the law in Canada, you if you did in fact find someone who would do it, it would be illegal and you would be subject to a ticket.

theres no way to turn it off from the stalk in canadian e9x's...there is no one in canada who bought a car from a canadian dealer regardless of it being an 06, 07 08 or 09 that can do it. this topic has been beaten to death here in the canadian sub-forums. not sure about 06 us models..

there are shops in the GTA that do this for a fee but when you bring your car back to dealer for service, they'd prolly reactivate it for you, unless you tell them you are using your angel eyes for DRL and they agree to leave it

e92 and 09+ e90 all have angel eyes as DRL if I remember correctly

I think this is the OP's intention and not disabling DRL completely so it's not illegal

The one BDM posted used to be able to do it. I had it done waaaay back. I was having issues with my first set of Euros (one side not levelling) and the dealer had flashed my ECU with new software and "reset" my DRL when they noticed my DRL is "not working". It was a little annoying for me to have to turn on my "parking light" to run the rings anyway, so I never bothered to re-do it again.

Last I heard they upgraded their system and can no longer do it. Another shop is rumoured to be able to do this now.

i was planning to disable the normal DRLs and use the halos using the Deos angel system from jlevis... so that wouldnt be illegal since the newer bimmers use the halos as drl's right?

I thought that Deos system will by-pass the DRL and use the angels as DRL?

as far as I understand from jlevis' website, the Deos system will disable your DRL on ur pre-LCI e90 and use the halos as DRL, like the 09+ e90s, and e92

from their site: "Please note that if you do not have the option to disable your DRL lights on your iDrive or Turn Signal Stalk, a visit to the dealer may be required to de-program them."

since I am in canada the DRL's cant be disabled in the two ways above.

hey guys, I don't get the point why you guys want it off?
is it because you don't like the yellow color or what?

I know someone took out the bulb but again it throws an error.
