Upgrade the Rearview

I skipped the premium package ... only regret is the auto-dimming rearview mirror ... anyone know if I could retrofit one?

Looks like it can be done, not sure about the homelink- but you should be able to find extra 3 series rear view mirrors. It's the same electric set up for 1 series and 3 series... (the Andy guy owns a Z- which is a different electric set up).

Hope this helps?

Here's a semi-decent DIY (granted this is e46 in which he bought an e90 mirror) but you'll get the idea.

I own a 135 as well which is what I was referring to in my post.

There is a retrofit harness available from BMW. It should make everything nice and easy to install. I have a mirror from a Z4 which is slightly smaller and without homelink but am not sure if I want the autodim in my car–there have been too many issues with the goop leaking in Z3s and I figure it is a matter time issue that everyone with them will see.

I read somewhere else that the homelink was the most difficult- not sure why exactly...?

Thanks Andy!
