Just got my 335i Convertible..got some questions..

I've been waiting since last Wednesday to pick up my 08 Monaco Blue 335i Convertible and now I got another hour and a half to go before I can take possession! I got a couple of questions for you guys:

1. Do you think I got a good deal? I got a friend with a independent dealer license and he hooked me up for $39,100. This is a 08 hard top convertible with 22,000 miles, navigation, premium package, and sports package.

2. What should I do next to my car? I am getting the OEM M lip installed and the 3M invisible bra installed this weekend. I ordered the painted front reflectors and I ordered the JB+. I know most people will say go JB 3 or Vishnu but I just wanted a quick boost in power and nothing too serious for the first year. What would you guys do next? Exhaust, intake, any other exterior mod?

Thanks in advance for your input!

I was originally in the market for used and found 08 full loaded except for sports package, 9.5k miles and got the independent dealer down to 46k (originally 49k). The dealership was actually in Alexandria and the HPFP was actually replaced on that car (I'm not really sure if that should actually be a deterrent for buying however). The mileage is high and I am assuming it is still on the original warranty (Non CPO) as it hasn't been two years of life yet? I think you got a decent deal, certainly not an amazing one but it is sufficient IMO considering that even though it currently is a buyer's market, convertibles/335s tend to hold their value better than other cars as the target consumer is usually removed from the normal consumer pool and feels less strain during economic difficulties. I ended up buying new, should be coming tomorrow (335 '09 black sapphire on black leather, 6spdmanual, nav, etc)

If you think the exhaust pipes (3 inch diameters are standard i believe) a lot of people enjoy getting 3.5" or 4" diameters. You can look in the exhaust modification or exterior modifications sections for what to do to your car. Personally I fell in love with a member's car on this forum (BMWGator)

Wheels and tires. Run flats stink. You will have a softer quieter ride and better handling. BTW, mine are BBS knockoffs. Love them. Also, radar and laser jammers were great for me. Depends on how you drive.

Welcome! I think the price was very fair considering it was probably a ~$58k MSRP 08.

Do you research on a tune before you decide.

I'd recommend tint and then a coilover suspension. The KV2's are really nice.

Post some pics!

Thanks everyone for all your input, much appreciated!

I drive A LOT (30k miles a year) so I think I am going to let this suspension ride for a little bit but after year 1 I will upgrade it.

I have heard nothing but horrible things about run flats...all I can say is F***. I am definitely going to look into rim/tires.

I think I will go with an exhaust system for the next mod. Any recommendations? I can't have anything extremely loud, I am a Realtor and I have clients that ride with me sometimes.

BMWGator's car is sick, you weren't kidding about falling in love with it!

So guys what would kind of exhaust system would you get? I'd like to keep it under $2,000. Quality is KEY, not too loud, and performance boost would be awesome! I would like to keep it legal as well!

Thanks

No performance boost to be had from exhaust unless you eliminate cats and or go with downpipes, etc. The actual exhaust is more than adequate for any mods we can do. You will save weight, but not make HP. If you do the downpipes, you will make some HP as this is the choke point. I also use mine for about 50k traveling and have clients in it weekly. If you want loud, get exhaust. If you want quiet but looks, get tips. If you want performance and some turbo whoosh, get downpipes. Don't forget to remove for dealership stuff like oil changes, etc.

-=Hot|Ice=- - I'll get you some pics this weekend. I'm getting the lip installed and the invisible bra. I'll throw some pics right after!

Curt2000 - Thanks for that link. Those pics really help. I think new wheels is going to have to be the next mod!

92tripleblack - That was great info. I think I'll hold off on the exhaust for now, I don't want something that I will have to change in and out so it doesn't void my warranty and I don't want anything too loud.

I'll post some pics up soon, thanks again for all the advice.

The OP lives in Virginia. You have to be careful with radar detectors and laser jammers are illegal there. Radar jammers are illegal everywhere in the US.
